Can someone confirm if he said the medium was a slam dunk or the light?

Because he def said one was a "slam dunk" everyone will love and the other one he sort of hesitated and it was more "its cool too" status.

I think he said both.

No I listened to it live and for sure he did not say both choices were slam dunk.

He said something like:
-no poll for light and medium
-I know what the choices will be and you will like them
-X is for sure a slam dunk

then he started to say both were and changed his mind and said Y is going to be really cool and people will like it.

They were not both on the same "this is just 100% for sure what people want" status but I can't remember which weight class was which.

Both are "grand slam" choices. "The light in particular I think is home run and the medium is close to." (1:10)

Honestly, between the UrbanMech, Javelin and Mongoose, I can't think there is a home run other than the Urbie.

If you jump ahead a few years, sure, but the Timber Wolf is just a Marauder with Clan tech, replacing the AC with missile racks in some configurations. Other configurations, the missile racks are deleted, and it could pass for a Marauder easily.

why the timberwolfs Is designation is Madcat, as it was seen as a Marauder, Catapult hybrid

And hey, every Light can run around with big guns in MWO. and move a lot faster while doing so.

yup and thats why open customisation as open as MWO sucks as there is no place for certain mechs in the game, until the Light ppc of the spider in a few years time the panther should be the only light capable of mounting one

I think this the point some peeps have been bringing up about sized hardpoints, certain mechs that are not supposed to able to carry certain weapons wont be able to do so. but then you have a chassis like the Hollander with a gauss rifle the weapon is about 1/3 the weight of the whole mech throws the whole argument out the window!

I'm just patiently waiting for that IS package to hit before December so I can pick up a king crab without having to dirty myself with clan mechs.

I wonder if folks would be upset if the light was the Hermes http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hermes and the medium was the Hermes II http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hermes_II ?

Both are FWL mechs though with some export models to the Draconis Combine.

True that.

And between the Assassin, Clint, Hermes II, Sentinel, Vulcan, Whitworth and Hoplite, the only "close to home run" I can think of is the Assassin.

WELL NOW....I certainly didn't see the Panther or the Enforcer coming......but did that cat really need to be let out of the bag now?

Updated my Build-an-Urby-guide if anyone cares:

Quote

From the tabletop, we can see that a Stock Urbanmech would be the following in MWO:
Spoiler
This gives us the following summary:
UM-R60: 1E, 1Bm 0M, 2JJ
UM-R60C: 1E, 2B, 0M, 2JJ
UM-R60L: 1E, 1B, 0M, 2JJ
UM-R63: 2E, 1B, 0M, 2JJ
UM-R68: N/A
UM-R69: N/A
UM-R70: N/A
UM-AIV: N/A
UM-R80: 4E, 0Bm 0M, 1ECM, 2JJ

From there, we can build equivalent in the game!
Using a Spider SDR-5K / SDR-Anansi Base:
Using a STD100 Engine +Endosteel to account for the weight difference of the STD100 instead of STD60
UM-R60: UM-R60 / UM-R60
UM-R60C: UM-R60C / UM-R60C
UM-R63: N/A / UM-R63
UM-R63C: UM-R63C / UM-R63C

Firestarter FS9-H / Ember Base:
Using a STD100 Engine, extra weight accounted for within the extra 5 Tons.
UM-R60L: UM-R60L / UM-R60L

Using a Spider SDR-5D Base:
Using a STD100 Engine +Endosteel to account for the weight difference of the STD100 instead of STD60
UM-R80: UM-R80 (Couldn't fit 4 Energy, so have an extra heat sink)

'Updated' Builds, using the upgrades and mods that would be available to the Urbie in MWO.
Only using the Hardpoints available shown in the Stock Loadouts section, or it's not really an Urbie anymore is it! ;)
UM-R60-M: UM-R60-M ('Modern' - AC10 +3T ammo, ML)
UM-R63-S: UM-R63-S ('Superior' - LBX10 +4T ammo, ML)
UM-R22: UM-R22 (2AC2 +3T ammo, ML)
UM-R60L+: UM-R60L+ (AC20 +3T ammo, 2ML)
UM-R60L++: UM-R60L++ (AC20 +4T ammo, 2ML)

Okay, okay! Jeez. Your 40t worth of flip-flopped E + B hardpoints plus jets on all your variants at least puts you ahead of the rest of the competition. But that Assassin has had far more face-time with the fans, and E + M hardpoints on a chassis that can run slightly faster and jump slightly more than your max capacity is going to be tough to beat.

Close, when the Timber Wolf was first encountered, IS combat computers (bitching Betty) would be flipping between calling it a MAD- and a CAT-, never really settling on one....

That's the story as far as I know it.

Yes, PGI (or was it IGP) did a nice little nod to that in one of the Clan announcement vids

Both of these are true. Grinner (Phelen Kell's WLF-1 Wolfhound) could not decide which 'Mech the Timber Wolf was. The designation "Mad Cat" was given by Comstar as a simple mash up of the names and highly indicative of its combat ability.

Yeah I'm not sure what could be grand slam homerun besides the Urbanmech as a timeline appropriate IS light. It'd be super extra cruel if it was the MASC-less Flea after all this time.

Thanks for looking it up, I knew he backtracked on one of the two weight classes.

Btw, I'm pretty sure that means the Crab isn't the medium.
