What about this AH Cent?

(I have no idea if would work)

be fine. Trade 1 ton AC20 ammo for SRM ammo. Good to go. (4 tons is plenty for the ac20)

love my AH. Don't love the new RA. But we will get a "meet in the middle barrel size fix" eventually, so that will help SOME, at least.

Gauss needs enlargement as well and I do not use such a statement lightly. Seriously the Gauss Rifle on my Kit Fox is bigger. New arm needs to have a more dynamic geometry for weapons though. I get that it is easier to model, but it would look nicer if the changes were more centered around the large barreled weapons and the current arm used only for the AL and dual or triple AC configurations. Love the shield on the AH, she's already been renamed Verdandi.

As for Katana Kat as a Pather hero, she's a stock 9R. No point really other than the name.

Edit: The camo got redone! Tiger looks EPIC now! Did not notice at first because I use the PC Gamer camo, but the others are nice. I will miss my blood tipped claws though.

Most named Heroes are stock. Heavy Metal, Dragonslayer, Pretty Baby, Deaths Knell, all of them.

Fair enough. Been a while since I read Wolves on the Border, but I think Katana Kat got some combat time and was stock. Granted it somehow magically became a modified 16K by the Dark Age (I was less than happy about that when I pulled it from a booster and read the dossier, the Dark Age makeover did not help), but I doubt it had changed much by 3049.

It is nice, I suppose.

No more Mohawk colors though.

I am now a sad punk.

The cat is out of the bag! PGI has created a custom variant to satisfy their 3-variant requirement.

So.....

Where's my Wolfhound and Hatchetman (w/o melee)? :ph34r:

They could add in C3 and my favorite 40 tonner at the same time. The 5U could make for a fun MPL boat. ;)

Wolfhound already had three suitable variants within the timeline, just that they would need extreme hardpoint inflation and engine cap differences as they are all exceedingly similar given how PGI deals with rear facing weapons.

Dear ultimate mech thread,

So another CW update has come out and they talked more about LP finally and I'm still seeing a lot of this:

How about Faction only mechs/variants? Thought that was the plan all along! Titles and skins alone isn't going to get many very excited about it.

I've seen the similar sentiment on reddit and elsewhere.

So it got me thinking. I think adding special mechs or variants or heros as CW rewards only is a ludicrous idea. From a business standpoint and a balance standpoint. But what about this dear mech thread feast your eyes on 10 missing variants of existing chassis:

Davion = VTR-9D & BJ-1DB
Steiner = TBT-5S & COM-5S
Kurita = CPLT-K3 & GRF-1DS
Liao = BNC-3Q & VND-1SIC
Marik = TDR-7M & WVR-6M

What do you guys think? I know that all ten of those variants have a stock loadout that you can already create in MWO. I know that most/all would get identical hardpoint layouts to existing variants. But think of it, they could give them different quirks based on their stock weapons, they would still be new mechs, sort of.

I know I care about lore more than most but I feel like adding variants like these as rewards is a good compromise between the business of selling mechs for $$$, maintaining balance between factions but giving cooler/better rewards for LP. They are also not much work for PGI. Everyone wins?

Those are the ten best 3050 or before, timeline appropriate missing variants that require no new tech (i.e. TSM, MASC, C3) I could come up with. Two for each faction. Did I miss anything good or make any glaring errors?

I know that there is a AS7-K-DC floating around out there and that'd be awesome in MWO but lets face it, giving one faction a special ECM Atlas would probably not be fair.

Do you guys think the ability to unlock variants like that through Loyalty rewards is a good idea? Maybe even being able to buy them outright if what we need are more LP sinks for permanent faction players.

Let's just note the biggest change with the announcement of the Enforcer that should cause serious excitement.

PGI will release designs with insufficient stock chassis by adding in a "P" (for PGI) variant, as the Enforcer-5P now shows.

This likely means that even designs with only two current variants are now doable on the list, rather than 3.
