Arr.. no.
The Cicada (like all 40 tons mechs) can have the maximum of 9 tons armor. Now in MWO, the armor is doubled, so you might think the Cicada's armor is 18 tons (more than an 85 tons mech).
Anyway, nobody said the armor of the omni mechs will be locked. We don't know it yet. If it is, there will be really few good clan mechs, even if you compare with the IS ones.
Vulture, Loki and Thor would be glass cannons (specially the Loki).

And how much armor does a Thor come with? 9 tons.
I know stastically it has more than the maximum that a Cicada can have (which is 274 IIRC), but it seriously isn't 364 armor is not that much on a 70 tonner. Especially with the way it is laid out.

Clan armor values are locked, so are their internals, equipment, etc.
To assume that PGI isn't going to follow this trend is to make a baseless assumption. PGI tends to change things after the fact, and rarely before.

Doesn't really change my stance though. I've always liked the Thor, flaws and all besides 9.5 tons of FF armor is more than enough to do damage. I don't need to be a frontline star on the battlefield to be successful.

Ohh sorry, I misread you. For some reason I thought you said:
"Because it has half as much armor as a fully armored Cicada."
Dang, I need to stop playing Hotline Miami. That thing is getting me high.

If PGI was going for a literal interpretation of the omnis, it would be like this:
- You can't change the armor;
- You can't change any loadout (weapons and equipment);
- You can't even add or remove a heat sink;
- You can, however, swap for any of the omni variants for that mech. Maybe you buy the omni chassis (with the prime variant) and the other "sets" separately (with a great discount).
But really? Look at the IS mechs: do you think you can just change a machinegun for a gauss rifle in a blink of an eye? Or change engines? Or change all the armor type? Or CHANGE INTERNAL STRUCTURE? (which is pretty the whole mech)
No, you can't. These modifications are pretty drastic and would take a lot of money and time.
In regard of the omni mechs, PGI will certainly take a middle ground approach. But we have no idea of it by now.

I am in no way supporting armor being locked and ****, but that's how the rules work in TT. And since PGI does take a stance that reflects "changes later, not before" it seems reasonable to assume (for now) that they'll go full TT.
I do however firmly believe that they'll use the Upgrades tab to allow us to unlock certain things, like allocation armor and armor tonnage for example. But some things like the internals should stay locked. No engine swapping, no doing away with Endo and FF, and so on.

I saw that and got all excited. I immediately hit the announcement forums saying "maybe they just didn't announce it on the main page?". But then I realized you were joking and felt bad...

Where does it say in TT that armor must be locked? o.O

On OmniMechs their armor values are locked. You are going to have to take my word for it because I don't feel like looking for the exact page where this is stated at the moment, but as you'll notice no one is exactly contesting this as fact. Go and make a thread in the TT sub-forum if you want, they'll probably give you the exact page it is on.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Bane
Unless theres something about the Bane i missed out on, it came with the Clan Invasion, but was abit more on the rare side, but still warants no escuse not to include it, it would also fill the missing role of "Ballistic Boat"
Edit: Also you might as well put a (Madcat?) because Garth has hinted at it being one of the first clan mechs, and more than likely going to be the first clan hero mech
