What evidence do we have that packages are more profitable than single purchases? Has PGI come out and said something to that effect? I don't believe so.

There always needs to be new C-bill mechs in the pipeline or the server population will drop between releases. I vote against moving to quarterly or semi-annual mech releases.

Look at my forum signature, I am nearly out of chassis to master as it is, I am not waiting until 2015 for new IS mech. Knowing the devs that Kit Fox will drop late August, meaning weeks ands weeks of boredom.

If they make the Arrow 50% off, I might buy that. Nothing else.

If you do a decent sized pack every quarter (3 months), you could then release the "hero" version of each mech in the pack for individual purchase every couple weeks after the pack. For instance, you could release a pack of four mechs for a limited two week period. The next month, you release the first mech for individual sale, then the second mech two weeks later, third two weeks later, and forth two weeks after that. You have now covered roughly three months, and can repeat the process with another pack. That gives pack purchasers a one month head start on everyone else, yet allows you to continue selling mechs for the whole quarter.

besides the Clan Buster pack, are there any other groups of mechs that could become a mech pack or maybe be considered for one?
*Pin this Thread please!*

I would like to see Faction packages, personally. Then you could release four mechs of a particular Faction, the traditional colors and camo specs of a unit from that Faction, and include a couple exclusive Faction items in the package.

For instance, the Liao Package could have the Cataphract, Raven, Thunderbolt and Vindicator, then have a Dynasty Guard camo design with maroon, greenish-gold and black colors. The pack exclusive item would be a sword hung in a sheath from one of the cockpit brackets.

Liao is by far my least favorite Favtion, and I would STILL purchase that pack.

I'm sure you could think of plenty.

'Lone Wolf Pack' or 'Mercs Pack', with mechs known to be used mostly by free agents.

'Davion / Kurita / Liao / Marik / Rasalhague / Steiner Pack', with mechs iconic to, or made by the faction(s) of choice.
'Clan Smoke Jaguar / Jade Falcon / Wolf / Ghost Bear Pack' same, but with Clan faction(s).

'Clan Buster Pack' with the Black Knight, Champion, Hussar, King Crab and Wyvern.
'Lostech / Comstar Pack' with 'new' mechs that have been recovered from before the Succession Wars and/or old Comstar Mechs that are being brought out of storage.
And that's just my brief thoughts on it.
Bet it'd be easy to come up with more.

would that xl 275 be the max engine rating?
If so then no, the Wolverine gets most of its advantage through speed and going sub 90kph would make it DOA.

"Engine: 275 XL
Top Speed: 81.0 kph
Max Engine Rating: 345"

"Quirks: 10% bonus to Acceleration, 10% bonus to Reverse Speed Multiplier, 10% bonus to Turn Speed"

"The 'Crimson Sunrise' is designed to be a 'fast strike Mech' in the sense of maneuverability rather than raw speed. The CS shines is in its ability to accelerate and decelerate much more quickly than the other Wolverines & its ability to change the facing of its legs far more quickly, allowing it to stutter-step & dodge-and-weave far better than its counterparts (and most other 'Mechs of the same size, for that matter). This added maneuverability is offset by the lower Max Engine Rating (345 for the CS, versus 360 for the 6R & 7K and 375 for the 6K) and a mid-range Max Jump Jet Count (5 for the CS, versus 7 for the 6R & 7K and 0 for the 6K); the basic Wolverines will hold the advantage in terms of potential top speed & potential jumping ability."

it's a nice design, though TBH, no offense to you, I would like to see them impose a "once a victor, not eligible for future contests" thing-

Huh. I run 8 out of 9 of my Shads, Griffs and Wolvies with 275 or 280xls. Never felt DOA in any of them. Well, OK; the non jumping Wolvie, feels DOA, for utterly different reasons.

Never did get the hang on that one either; it's just worse than the others - and it's not just the lack of jump jets either. 4 energy, all in the same arm, and a single-slot, 10-tube missile torso? What am I supposed to do with that?

According to some, perhaps the first couple of these? :)

I wouldn't consider buying a non jumping light or med hero again. they never fit my play style. hope the Hero Wolverine has them, and it will be similar but different than the 6R(P)

I would buy that one, specially for the canon fluff.

So, Spider hero soon and next the Battlemaster? (Starbird FTW!)

Nah, we just need the "neo-Pirahna", with 12 MGs and a couple MLs!

I kinda figured. It was kind of a veiled attempt to bring this thread back from page 3 exile. :P
