Very nice list, stone rhino though should be in project phoenix II

I actually want my Xin Sheng Mechs...

Light: Anubis
Medium: Men Shen
Heavy: Lao Hu
Assault: Yu Huang

Have at thee!

Anubis has kind of an odd history. I like the 'Mech, but it should have been a companion to the Osiris, but Achernar Battlemechs decided not to produce it. The Duan Gung would probably be more appropriate, though admittedly it is a less capable missile platform.

True, but one man's junk is one man's treasure :)

I got others in mind but they are mostly almost a hundred years later...

And, last but certainly most, the Project Phoenix II: (OK, only in our dreams)

- Light: Wasp, Stinger (or Valkyrie)
- Medium: Phoenix Hawk, Ostroc (or Ostsol)
- Heavy: Marauder, Warhammer
- Assault: Longbow, Marauder II
Reinforcements: Archer, Crusader (or Rifleman)

Fixed that for you. Also, I'd probably buy this package twice. With the exception of the Ost's and the Crusader you just listed off my top 10 most wanted mechs (that aren't currently in the game).

Clan Wave IV "Refusal War" (Clan Wolf vs Clan Jade Falcon), with time forwarded a few years:

- Light: Phantom, Fire Falcon
- Medium: Pouncer (Cougar), Black Lanner
- Heavy: Linebacker, Night Gyr
- Assault: Naga, Turkina - the only problem is: Naga needs Arrow IV
Reinforcement: Mongrel (Grendel).

Clan Wave ? (after adding MASC):

- Light: Fire Moth - has MASC
- Medium: Shadow Cat - has MASC
- Heavy: Lupus (or, if the timeline already reached 3059, Nova Cat)
- Assault: Executioner - has MASC

I prefer the Woodsman for the MASC pack heavy if Nova Cat isn't timeline appropriate yet, though it will require them to make another variant, making up clan variants however is probably a bit safer than IS honestly.

As for the Refusal War pack, its a nice lore pack but I think they'll be using some of those mechs much sooner than that. Assuming we get 2 new Clan packs in 2015 I think strong candidates for the second one include:

Turkina(A95)
Linebacker(H65)
Stooping Hawk(M55)
Fire Falcon(L25)

MASC is not pod mountable and the Nova Cat does not carry MASC. Why would it be in the MASC pack?

Because there is no heavy with MASC in the near future.

That's still not a valid reason for the Nova Cat being proposed for inclusion in a MASC pack, when it has no MASC.

At the very least, one could have proposed reviving the MASC-equipped Woodsman, with PGI creating a third configuration (like they created a third variant for the Enforcer).

Be interesting to see that piece of history in MWO. I am not saying I do not want the Nova Cat. On the contrary the Alpha configuration makes it one of my favorite 'Mechs and I would love to see it. I just did not feel is was appropriate for a MASC collection. While the Woodsman fits with the other Omnis, the Thresher or Hellfire would fit the pack theme better.

Nova Cat would fit perfectly as part an Operation: Bulldog Clan Pack.

I still wonder if it will ever be feasible to put in quads into MWO? I know the technical hurdles and resource allocation issues are there, but should PGI begin to expand I wonder if it would be considered.

However, neither the Thresher nor the Hellfire (the latter of which isn't available until 3058) are OmniMechs.

I completely forgot the Woodsman had MASC. Good catch! (will fix the list)

And welcome back, Strum.

I know they are not. They are Clan 'Mechs, that, MASC, and timeline were the only criteria I used. Clan packs need not be pure one way or the other.

Nova Cat is 3059 and Woodsman is likely extinct (and definitely not found in front line units) so a bit of a catch 22 there.

i just wonder:

why not bring mechs that could equip masc anyway? just let masc out of the game if it doesn´t work, yet.
i mean.....hey we had a command console not working for like a year or so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

MASC is hard-wired into the Omni system. It would be 1 (for 20 tons mech) to 5 (for 100 tons mech) tons of dead weight (not to mention the occupied critical slots.

Besides, I think the Fire Moth already breaks the MWO's speed limits, even without MASC.

Sure, I want to see the Executioner and the Shadow Cat in the game, but there are other mechs awaiting release.

The easiest way to implement MASC is just to put an upper limit on the speed of a mech. Sure, some of the lighter mechs would have wasted space and/or be nerfed initially, but that would allow us to have the larger mechs fully functional, such as the Executioner, which is still WAY under the speed cap even with MASC engaged, lol.

Oops, the Phantom is actually a medium mech, not a light. So, I updated the list.

Good news is: the Jade Falcon vs. Wolf (now simply a "rivalry" pack, not a "Refusal War" pack) wouldn't need to wait the implementation of Arrow IV. The problem is: we need a place for the excellent Night Gyr (maybe released alongside the Nova Cat as reinforcements of any other pack?).

It does at 162 before MASC kicks in. The Hussar would break it without MASC after speed tweak at 151 kph stock.

Add it to the Reinforcement pack?

I imagine there'd be a Clan reinforcement pack to include elements of the Nova Cats, Steel Vipers, and Diamond Sharks. Maybe the 4th mech to be a Wolf mech since they didn't "need" reinforcements from another clan.

The Viper is as close to a lock for the next clan pack (we were discussing the one after next) as we're likely to see. So the Stooping Hawk pick is after the assumption that the Viper is already in the game.

So why the Stooping Hawk over the Pouncer and Black Lanner?

Well the Lanner is mainly out because its 3052 while the other two come before then.

I'd favor the Stooping Hawk over the Pouncer because the Pouncer is very Adder+1 or Adder+5tons however you want to look at it. The Stooping Hawk is a rare oddity but its also a 55 ton endo/ff medium which is the sweet spot and provides good contrast to the Stormcrow with much more interesting and numerous hardpoint options.

Its also a quite odd Clan Omni in that the Stooping Hawk uses a standard engine and has CT hardpoints, so the first true clan zombie mech.

Meanwhile the Viper and Adder AND Pouncer would be a lot of redundancy in visuals and in battlefield role.
