Just checked the black lanner....
and OMG... it has MASC... please NO...NO..NO NO...
Not another Sh* medium with useless locked equipment
MASC is a recipe for failure on a medium.
Did you look at the Black Lanner A? I guarantee you won't see anything else on a recon mission in FW from the Clans if that comes out. It's also one of the few Clan mechs I'd buy for PUGing. Same goes for the Linebacker.

As you guessed, 65tons with 1xPPC, 1xLRM10, 1xflamer.

A bit strange to see them in the 1st SW, but who knows...
I was guessing the Merlin (even if the legs were very different and the LRM is a 5)...
BTW, never heard about this Von Rohrs...

Strum would have, instantly, I'm sure. I'm pretty much a walking Btech encyclopedia, but I admit that post FanPro, and into the CGL era, my knowledge is spotty at best. Too many retcons, etc for me to realyl like. And of course, I despise the Jihad/Dark Age settings.
But if they are going to give us source material for SLDF-Clan INvasion era, more and more, I'll start buying again. I did buy this one already, and am enjoying it. Not as much as a First Edition House Book, but close.

You can still see the echoes of those designs in the Dragon, though.

and enter the First Succession War NUseen designs.
-Locust I wish was a little wider at the arms, like the MWO version.
-Wasp is pretty perfect as it
-Valkyrie I don't like the pointy chin, but otherwise, nicely done
-Love the Shadowhawk but feel the round calves don't match the flow of the rest of the design
-And Wolverine is pretty much perfect, IMO. I way prefer it to the MWO version. Maybe I'd bulk the calves up more like the SHDs, but that's a pretty minor quibble (as all of the ones I mentioned are, really). LOVE the 3050 TRO rounded thighs.

book is a heck of a lot more than 5 pictures. If that's all a person is paying for, they got issues. I would venture those who would just pirate it, will do so, regardless, and if anything, those on the fence about actualyl buying it are more likely too now.
But those who just want the NUseen pics? Almost 100% would not actualyl buy the book in the first place. It's not like we're talking posting the contents of a 60 unit TRO.

Night Gyr reminds me of the Kodiak with the huge shoulders and hunkered-down head, and the high-held arms, lik it's keeping its head down and arms up while walking through waist-deep water and expecting incoming fire.
Kintaro's less pronouncedly so in the head and shoulders, but it's actually the first resemblance I keyed in on when I saw the concept art for the Night Gyr.

Crazy thing is, I like the Kodiak! I'll admit a preorder crossed my mind a couple of times for that mech. The Night Gyr...nah, doesn't do it for me at all.

good read, well worth 15 bucks.
BTW would so love to find an online RPG group to play out a first war scenario.
