Not a sphereoid, but light mechs, in general, need some love. I am not expert in IS mechs, but I'm sure they have plenty to choose from. Clans still have the Fire Falcon, as well.

And the Fire Moth, which is out of the game only because of technical issues.

I would say, it's an obnoxious amount of work for Quads, and LAMs would potentially break the game engine outright.

Throw in it's just not economically viable, and his want to distance himself from the concept, and have nothing to do with them is entirely understandable.

It'd easily be 3-6 months work on each system (clans were an estimated 6 months work, and each system would be comparable) as well, for the return of:
6-12 Quad Mechs (Later 20-30, though this requires 3100+ and QuadVees, which would potentially be as much work again for 5 mechs total.)

3-9 LAMs. (3 'yes', 3 WoB in 3077-3080 or so, 1 is a quad and experimental, and 2 are experimential)

The Assassin would expand the 40t slot, currently there's only the Cicada. Also, the Banshee is the only IS 95 tonner so obviously I say Nightstar.

Oh I know... doesn't change the fact that I love L.A.M.'s...

Still L.A.M.'s wouldn't need to have the ability to mode change, just offer up WiGE movement and a constant state of "hover" in WiGE, with nerfed agility when not moving in WiGE. Have them hard locked at 171km/h when going flat out in WiGE (they should have 15 hex movement for the Stinger/Wasp/Phoenix Hawk L.A.M.'s), also make it a requirement that they move 150m in a strait line every 10-15 seconds to maintain WiGE...

We can have it, but we'd have to drop the MASC to do it. I'd rather have it, even without, and it would still be the fastest mech in the game. I'm not gonna dredge those numbers up again. ;)

I'm all for an extra free ton, but I don't think everybody's willing to give it up ("but it's supposed to ..."). Plenty of folks think the MASC makes the mech here. In TT, the argument makes more sense.

Here in MWO? Nothings's going much over 170 anyway (nothing since Speed Tweak nerf). FireMoth is now the only one that can eke out that speed. The 20-tonner's more useful here being in game without MASC, than being held out because MASC won't work on a 20-tonner with an XL200.

Why keep a mech out for a 1-ton piece of equipment that it can't use?

Dump it pl0x, gib Dasher plz.

Yes, I'm geeky enough to imagine the following sequence on the bridge with that clip.

Cdr: Captain, aerospace forces are reporting 45 pct casualties. Hull breach on Deck 8, fires in Sections A, D, E, and F, Sir. Engineering reports minor damage, reactor output at 86 pct.

Capt: Prepare to fire the main gun. Target the enemy fleet. Recall Aerospace forces.

Lt: Preparing to fire the main gun, Sir!

Cdr: Yes, Sir. Aerospace forces clear of the firing trajectory, reporting 64 pct casualties.

Lt: Main gun online Sir!

Capt: Fire the main gun.

Lt: Firing main gun, Sir!

Capt: Report.

Lt: Enemy forces have sustained catastophic damage, Sir!

Cdr: Aerospace reports 84 pct casualties, Sir. Engineering reports multiple fires after firing the main gun. Damage conrtol teams have the fires 34 pct controlled.

Capt: Very good, Lieutenant. Commander, deploy reserve fighters to clean up the enemy stragglers, and keep me posted on the damage control.

I'll be in my cabin getting started on our report to Command. Send the casualty report to me there once it's finalized.

See, this seems like the more expedient route.

So often in these series, the main gun is handled like a weapon of desperate last resort. As long as your not being utterly reckless, use the thing. It's war. Shoot 'em. Less loss of life and resources on your own side.
