I like this design too.

But if Alex made this marauder, the metawarriors would complain and cry about a small, mid level cockpit, with very low arms (lower third = dragon syndrome).

I like both of them Posted Image .

I loved them all!
And I'm impressed with how close to the originals they are.

PS: I have to disagree with Bishop: the Shimmering Sword's redesigned Marauder is the best of all (better than this one).

But you aren't disagreeing..Shim's redesigned MAD is the best...the one CGL is using! (Not the one with cankles and looking like a 100 ton assault mech with tiny little T-rex paddle stubs)

I never really cared for the original Marauder very much. I really like Alex's interpretation in MWO the best. The updated Marauder is better than the original, but still below MWO's IMO. It's funny how opinions can be all over the board on some mechs.

just proof some of y'all touch yourselves too much in front of your computers.... Posted Image

Don't forget this one:

PS: luckily, they are not that different. All can be easily identified as Marauders.

And Marauders are just there to help make the Warhammer look even more badass.

And yet, only the Summoner doesn't look like it's legs can support it's weight....

I know the thunder thighs and cankles of the MWO Mad Dog / Timber Wolf have been unpopular, but having spent so much time with them now, I actually like the MWO renditions more than the orginals.

This could be helpful: scale reference for all mechs (with Viper and Night Gyr included)

I might be dense, but from time to time I hear some MWO mechs looks like lego? What? Are you pointing to the modular weapond hardpoints?
Makes sense really. I like it much more than for example how loadouts didnt do squat for the mechs in Mech Warrior 4. Yeah I know, hardware limit for the game and such.
But no matter what you removed and/ or put on a mech. It still had the same friggin apperance. Zero sense. Same barrels even if you took out PPC and replaced it with 3-4 medium lasers. How does that work inside a barrel with one opening??
Sure the mad cat looks badass with those missile pods, but having nothing in those spots shouldnt compromise its silouette.

Ack.. The Night Gyrs waist... not liking that at all. So frail-looking, one turnaround and it will unscrew itself from the hips. (yeah I know they have gyrospheres)

Look the Archer, Warhammer and Summoner... ingame we barely see how thin is the waist.

There were no hardware limitations against this sort of things back in 2004... at least not such that couldn't be overcome.
Viz. Armored Core from 1997 which had the modularity as one of its selling points. Or Metal Fatigue, a mech RTS from 2000 which has your mechs pick up scrapped equipment from fallen enemy mechs and use it as their own.

It's just the workload required to make all that and still make it look professional would be too much on the studio so they simply kept them static. Battletech is pretty strict on design like that with the battlemech/omnimech distinction.

So looking at a spread sheet of mechs and I see the Blood Asp listed as only like 36 to 38 tons of pod space, is this right? Cause that's not alot for a 90 tonner, the Mk II ends up with 43 with full armor but no equipment or weapons on it and stock engine...Just wonder cause atleast the Mk II almost has %50 free tonnage then.

Blood Asp has 40.5 free tons of pod space with full armor, but it doesn't have Ferro Fibrous, which will cost it almost 3 tons. (but it has 4 DHS locked inside engine)

I don't know the free tonnage of a fully-striped (but maxed armor) MK II, but should be about 47.5 tons.

BTW, a Clan Battlemech (not-omni) in MWO will always have more free space than any Omnimech of the same tonnage because everything is customizable.

Hmmm true, just looking at the Prime though for the BA.
2x GR
4x Heavy Medium
2x Medium Pulse
1x S-SRM6
One double Heat sink
And 3 tons of varrious ammo.

That's not alot of tonnage there, what 39 tons?

4 extra DHS, not just 1. And 4 Jump Jets (each weighting 2 tons) = exactly 46.5 tons.

the MWO MAD is a MAD IIC by everything but name - but the only real issue are LegoWeapons

Three things:

1. The MAD IIC does NOT look like that.

2. The MAD IIC is 85 tons, NOT 75.

3. The MAD IIC is a CLAN mech.

Looks closer to that than an actual Marauder.
