BTW, guy, next week new mech announced?

Which one?

It is IS, I suppose... here my guess: Wasp!
(hopefully in a double pack with another light mech in a discount price for increased value)

Honestly, I know I sent Russ a message a while ago, after the release of the Phoenix Hawk, mentioning that a Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie and Crusader would be faster to develop as they all share mechanical assets with the Phoenix Hawk in one way or another. so if it is one (or more) of those, I might toss them a little money.

Well in my fantasy dream world it'd be the Nightstar. Personally I think it'll be the Crusader or Longbow because lights don't sell as well sadly.

I could see a Wasp/Stinger pack but it'd be interesting to see how they'd handle it.

I honestly wonder if they will bite the bullet and just release the Wasp and Stinger the old way, just skip the cash pre-order and offer them for MC with c-bill release and eventually a mastery bundle down the track.

Gets in game, makes the lore peeps happy and serves as an example of "see, we're not about all cash pre-orders we do release 'mechs directly in-game."

The classic WSP-1A had a ground speed that could be considered lackluster when compared to most modern light 'Mechs, but this was offset by its jump capability. While carrying heavier weapons than 'Mechs like the Locust, the Wasp would generally only engage other light 'Mechs, using its jumping capabilities to avoid conflicts with larger foes

I hope so, since the Wasp may not be super special if they go by the lore.

While it's obvious there's little interest in lights in general, I feel like the Wasp/Stinger might just make economical sense too. As noted above, we already have the Phoenix Hawk, so maybe to some extent they can work based on that model. Also, you could probably develop both the Wasp and Stinger for roughly the cost of one 'mech. The heads would have to be different, also the cockpit (I hope they'd respect the lore by making the Stinger cockpit ridiculously cramped), but that's about it.

So they'd be cheap to develop, and they have an unusually big nostalgia factor around, so I think it might work out in terms of PGI's cashflow. I hope they give it a shot.

(To me this admittedly goes beyond MWO. What PGI is doing with Alex's concept art and the 3D models is a wholesale reimagining of BattleMechs. Starting with HBS's game, I could see these models being used for many, many years into the future, and in many games. So I'd be really sad if they skip doing the REAL inner sphere workhorses like Stinger/Wasp. It's time we have those again.)

Decals in general look a bit weird on the Founder's mechs. The nice clean fresh paint decals look out of place on such a weathered looking camo.

I do like the smiley face on the weapon barrel though :D.

Wasn't there something about PGI and HBS sharing models? If so this might add another incentive...

I don't know if they share models, but HBS is certainly using the MWO's visual stile for their mechs.

EDIT: I was told HBS will use the same mech models from MWO.

Ugh, so it's almost a month now since the Linebacker wrapped up that sprint of Clan mechs. Yet, we still don't even have a clue what's next o.O

..... only if we get melee, and even there I'd rather the Hatchetman and Axman first...

I rate Agro-mechs just above proto-mechs for levels of stupid....

Still I would love to see any of the following:

Wasp
Stinger
Bushwacker
Champion
Crusader
Battle Axe
Nightstar (to honour an agreement)
Devastator
Annihilator

Clan side:

Piranha
Coyotl (the 40t that Clans need, high mounts, reasonable engine size, no locked equipment)
Lupus (<=== it's oddly mean for it's size)
Warhammer IIC
Super Nova
Stone Rhino
Tomahawk (<=== more beastly Dire Wolf....)

It's not. Same mech, only different hitboxes (and probably LESS hardpoints).

Hi Odanan,
you may add the "Grit" to the list of Hero-Mechs if you wish:
http://mwomercs.com/...ound-hero-mech/

(Sorry for the promotion, but seeing this is the most popular Mech thread, I think an entry here would help the cause).

This is a Mech I would also like to have purely for the fluff. There is something about this Mech I simply cannot resist, even though my playstyle would require another kind of Mech...

... the Star League cavalry Mechs e.g.: Spartan and Excalibur.

I know how you feel FLG, I got lucky and got the IS mech that fits my play style now, the Warhammer, this mech just fits me like a glove... And I run her Super Stock.

To be fair, I'm not a fan of the mech.. reminds me too much of the Marauder, a mech I have no love for.

Eh...it's a slow assault mech... reason enough to not like it.

In that case you might like the Spartan: 80tons driven by XL400.

But to be fair, the Nightstar offers a variant with a 380 rated engine, which is the highest possible rating in the weight class. And this variant is perfectly compatible with MWO using only tech that is used in MWO too. (And, to be even more fair, 285 is the second highest rating. 95 ton beasts are just not fast)
