Oh, that boring stale game ;)

You know it would be interesting if they did a pre Revival Clan campaign and it was all just Trials and pure Zellbringen among just clans....just saying be something never really touched on.

yeah..like watching robots do pistol duels at 20 paces.... that'd be exciting. Face it..having to adapt to the IS and outgrow your inbred boring little rituals was the best thing to ever happen to you Vatbrats.

A clan Zel Combat simulator would look akin to Duck Hunt from the old NES......

Tradition has it's place, combat is not one of those places, that proved to be the downfall of the clans, as they were unwilling or unable to adapt quickly to face the IS on the IS's terms. Expecting the IS to fight via Zel was foolish and short sighted by the clans. as was their line of thinking that the IS would welcome them as rulers once they had taken Terra.

While yes naive of them for the most part, specially on an opponent entirely oblivious to the tradition (and honor :P) of Zell. If both sides follow it as intended does make for some unique fights. I was strictly talking like about this time over in Clan space the clans would be getting ready right? Why not have trials of refusal players can take place in? Or taking part in the trials to see if your clan is worthy to take part in the invasion? Just Clan v Clan. Crusader v Warden? No IS freebirths to tangle with. Or say campaigns to provide your self as a Freeborn in Clan military?

Reading Betrayal of Ideals should cure Clan madness. It is a mandatory read anyway and it will be republished as a stand-alone novel this year, so no excuses.

IMO, it's neither fair or accurate to blame DBZ (or DB in general) and SM for the failings of the Clans... Posted Image

I don't blame either for the Clans. I simply said they appeal to the same mindest of confusing poorly written, flashy piles of pooh for being good. DB followed even more predictable episodic structures than even Voltron did...and you KNEW every episode was going to end with forming Voltron and using the Flaming Sword to cut the Robeast in half!

As opposed to good, well written (and generally better illustrated) anime like Appleseed, Akira, Patlabor, New Domnion Tank Police, Ghost in the Shell (though stand alone complex was crap) Macross, Votoms, etc, etc, etc.

Indicative of the same 90s mentality to at overhyped Wolverine and Punisher as the supposed end all be all characters of Marvel, brought sword swinging Gundams to Battletech and largely ruined rock music til the middle of the 2000s.

(Yes, I generally wish that the decade from 1994-2003 could be wiped from existence, as it was generally a creative graveyard filled with realyl limp offerings like NuMetal, DBZ, etc. Not that I have any kind of strongly opinionated bias about it or anything, though.)

I just got note of a possible Grasshopper Hero Mech.
It is the personal Mech of Lord Stephan Roark, ex-SLDF Captain, who did not join Kerensky’s Exodus. We do not know if his Grasshopper was a prototype or a field modification, and we do not have a record sheet. It is featured in the BC short story A Soldier’s Priviledge (Jason Schmetzer), providing some details:

280 VOX engine

Jump Jets

ECM

2x MPL in RA

2x MPL in LA

1x LL in CT (possibly ER LL)

1x LRM5 in H

Obviously the ECM is the most interesting aspect of this Mech, and perhaps its needs quirks and/or a hardpoint inflation. But having a fully canonical Hero Mech would be very, very nice either way.

edit: corrected the link.
