Really? So what is the reason why the Viper was such a top choice or the Cougar for that matter....

Viper isn't doing to bad in game >.>

Cougar, well we didn't really vote to much for him did we? :P Also to be determined, atleast it's unique for a light :/

I'd rather not get ones hopes up about the Cougar, don't get me wrong, I love them in TT, but in MWO it's a slow 35t mech...

Never said the Viper is bad, just that it was topping the charts when it could be voted for, while a more well rounded and better balanced mech like the Coyotl was left in the land of obscurity.

Fair enough, but Viper fit better in the context of the lore of the game.

I just realized it could be the IIC heros, that will be rather lack luster imo.

Yes and no on the Viper, MWO as we all know is rather thin on Lore. How ever for game play, yes the Viper is fast, there is no denying that fact. The Coyotl is almost as fast (7/11 vs 8/12), packs nearly twice the fire power (8.5t vs 15.5t), all of it mounted around cockpit height (slightly above and slightly below) with option pod mounted JJ's (takes it down to 8.5t vs 12t of pod space). From a game mechanics stand point the Coyotl could be the better 40t mech for the clans, as it trades a little speed (around 16kph) for a lot more fire power combined with good hill humping ability thanks to a layout like the Ebon Jaguar.

As for Heros for the IIC's, well it could go either way, a Hunchback IIC could combine a big ballistic shoulder with a missile shoulder to great effect, the Orion IIC can already run a build much like the Protector (with a TC Mk VII for shits and giggles), Jenner IIC can already do an Oxide type build, and there is no really helping the Highlander IIC, but it can run a build just like that found on Heavymetal...

If it's a 4-mech pack, here are my bets:

- Osiris (IS, light)
- Hellhound (Clan, medium)
- Nova Cat (Clan, heavy omni)
- Avatar (IS, heavy omni)

Or, if you think the Hellhound/Conjurer bring too many shenanigans...

- Fire Moth (Clan, light, omni)
- Hellspawn (IS, medium)
- Nova Cat (Clan, heavy omni)
- Avatar (IS, heavy omni)

As much as I'd like to see the Wolverine IIC Conjurer, I would hope they would go with the actual TRO art work, but if they are going to go with "Hellhound" then go with MW/4 art work, they are two different mechs as far as I am concerned.

That being said, the Avatar is not a mech I want to see, with out it geting a major art overhaul it is going to be in a world of hurt....

Hard locked equipment in the Avatar:

IS 300XL
2x MLas (CT mounted)
2x CASE
Standard Armour
Standard Structure

That hard locked IS 300XL is going to hurt that mech with big flat ST's.....

Since we are going with Civil War era, why not the Hammerhands for a IS heavy?

Because Hammerhands is reintroduced during the Jihad, not the FedCom CivWar? (3071 reintroduction)

possibly because it was obscure, and as such...people either didn't know about it, or those who did, realized it really didn't fit in a 3050-3060 era game?

The Avatar actually has a hard locked 280xl

Let's not forget it's barn door, easily isolated STs....

HPPCs or some variants that might come (PPhoenix) are year 3067 but simple not part of the civil war. Not to mention that non of the PP Mechs did use total war equipment

And because the civil war is only a marketing name every Mech should be possible that uses the available tech.

However correct about the lacking knowlege of guys asking for Mechs.
I thing i need to barf when it will be 1st gen is omnis.

Some might be okay, such as the Raptor and maybe the Black Hawk KU.

Some might be decent, such as the Firestarter Omni, Black Jack Omni and the Perseus

Some might be decent with an art overhaul, such as the Sunder and Avatar

Some are just bad no mater what you do, such as the Owens and Strider.

Things get better with Gen 2 / 2.5, by Gen 3 everything is going good.

The Owens and Strider just need to have their equipment unlocked but I doubt that would happen.

that is why the locked IS XL is such a big deal... on ALL the IS Omnis with XLs, anyhow. And the precedent and inherent whining that would come if PGI unlocked any of that to compensate for the autodeath? Clam Tears would flood these forums with a deluge unseen since some dude named Noah.....

And that would open the gates to the 9th level of the salt mine from Clan pilots that would like to be able to swap FF or Enod, or add FF+Endo to Clan Omni's....

Either they all have to abide by the same rules or just toss the rules all together, no special treatment.

I kinda think it might be a bit longer. Just because the Civil War Update requires retro fitting mechs too. I hope I'm wrong cause Blood Asp, Stone Rhino, and Fafnir will be welcomed additions in my over filled mechlab!

+1 to Stone Rhino!
