New week, new possibilities!

What's coming next?

After announcing the Annihilator and Uziel anything is an improvement....

Personally I'd like to see the Was / Stinger get announced, as they could be viable with 170 series engines (180's would be nice, but 170's are the 1.4 multiplier used on lights) with 6 JJ's....

WSP-1W

As an example of what I mean.....

Don't tempt PGI. There are still many lackluster and/or insignificant Mechs out there. And since Annihilator & Uziel it is confirmed that PGI loves giving those lackluster and/or insignificant Mechs to the IS.

Imho, the selection process should have three steps:

Step One: look at the Random Assignment Tables of Era Report 3062 and Field Manual: Updates (i.e. 3067) to find common Mechs of the FCCW-era, and make a short list.

Step Two: analyse the expectable MWO-performance of the Mechs on your short list.

Step Three: try assessing the popularity of the Mechs on your short list. Since this is a subjective criterion, it should be handled with great care, and it should not override steps one and two automatically.

That's how they should do it, but I doubt they will... as everything shown to date is they listen to the people that have the rosiest of rose coloured glasses on when it comes to mechs from this era... point in example we got to very minor bit players that were nearly insignificant in numbers or usage to show case new IS tech....

I mean something like the Bushwacker L1 would've been a great place to show off LFE's and LB-20's.... or the Blitzkrige for that 50t with a UAC/20 in a high mount.... that also happens to be fast as hell thanks to using a 350xl.... Hell the Templar would be a great place to show of IS Omni tech with new tech as well... with Battlemaster esque hit boxes and weapon mounts it would be rather XL friendly too...

Rather we were talking about how easy it would be for PGI to make it up to the IS players by not including the really bad units....

Well, that depends. People decry the Hollander as a bad mech, and while I agree that the main variant is not a good mech, the Hollander G1 might not be quite so bad.

The main problem for the Hollander in MWO is the fact that the most amount of hard points found on them is 3, the second issue is, do they use the 35t base variant or the 45t base variant? It's also notorious for being slow, with one big gun... If you want to go that route why not use a HBK-4G or HBK-GI, both pack more armour than a Hollander regardless of the base 35t or 45t version.

Before asking for the Hollander, people should try Ravens and Firestarters with Gauss Rifles (or other big ballistics). Let's see if they will keep that... enthusiasm.

For the Hollander II, just try the same with the Vindicator and Phoenix Hawk.

That being said, a VND-1X can be amusing to run... set to chain fire and laugh all the way to troll town...

Wow, that's a weird build. Must try it.

A unit member has a Firestarter with a Gauss Rifle in it. It's niche but it can work.

With the RoF of the AC/2's on chain fire it will never over heat and is a constant bullet hose. Combine with advanced zoom and a foot perch for maximum trolling.

OK... but do we need a whole niche chassis?

Firestarters are lolzy, but boom chickens?

Boom chickens will only encourage the behavior you're cautioning against. Raven 4Xs with yuge ballistics were almost mandatory as a 3rd variant for levelling once upon a time. They were good enough with those high mounts that the ensuing hilarity could continue largely unabated.

Introducing the Hollander chassis would be like saying: "So I hear you like boom chickens. Here, hold my Urbie stien. Watch this."

Hmmm, that might be a good idea for a MWO YouTube series. "Hold my beer" , the series where the YouTuber in question spends a match or two per episode running around in the most headscratching builds imaginable, all for your entertainment.
