After the Blood Asp and Stone Rhino, are there really Civil War assaults worth waiting for or would be better off starting to push for more classic monsters like the Imp and Kingfisher? :P

1- Blood Asp
2- Stone Rhino
3- Warhammer IIC
4- Bane
5- Phoenix Hawk IIC

and now things start to get less exciting...

6- Kingfisher (locked Std. Engine takes a lot of weight)
7- Turkina (too slow)
8- Savage Coyote (too slow)
9- Tomahawk (too slow, similar with the Dire Wolf)
10- Blood Kite (too slow, fugly)

There must be some good Jihad and post-Jihad chassis, but I don't think MWO will jump that far.

PS: Imp would be IS, like the Annihilator.

With some adjustments to Jump Jets. I could see the Turkina being a decent mech honestly and a good addition for a second Clan 95t option.

Looks quite unique looking and interesting, even if it shares the basic speed and tonnage of the Warhammer IIC.

The only drawback is that it's from 3081.

The Wakazashi is interesting, but it opens a big can of worms for PGI... namely having to invent all variants... That being said, it would open the door to my beloved Coyotl since they both came out in the Golden Century supplement....

They look quite alike, isn't it? I don't know... they could be good (meta-good), but I don't find them very appealing (in looks).

There's also the Naga but it's really just an Arrow artillery mech.
http://www.sarna.net.../Naga_(OmniMech)

That's all of the potential clan assaults that would be available in timeline (for whatever that's worth.)

I was just listing the other Clan assaults so they can all get a fair chance.

The point is: the more popular ones will be favored.

You bring all valid alternatives, but in the end, the fact some other mech featured in a TT box or video game will count much more.

More likely sure but the Nightstar made it in ahead of other more iconic mechs. Don't write a mech off so easily

Fafnir, Sunder, Templar, all of the remaining unseen, Marauder II and I could go on.

Iconic can be debatable, but I'm not sure many would agree any of those are. Especially the remaining unseen (talking assault here); Goliath is a quad - so its out, Longbow - lol no, Mad II - not as iconic as the Marauder, more like a foot note.
Maybe folks who played Mechwarrior 4(?) might recognize the Fafnir, but its not as iconic as the Zeus.
The Iconic IS assaults are already in game, Atlas and Battlemaster, those have literally been symbols of the franchise.
The only thing more Iconic is the clan Timberwolf - it's like the Dallas Cowboys Star of giant robots; everyone knows it.

Whew, finished my list of all variants that aren't in the game. I'll be writing a proper post on this and dedicated thread, but for now... you can peruse: https://docs.google....t#gid=928478927

"Iconic" is one of the most overused and abused terms here anyway. For some, Mechs from MW:4 are iconic (see the Uziel). For others, only Mad Cat and Atlas count. Everybody has its own definition of "iconic". ...which is why debating about it is pretty pointless, and you should not presume too much.

Even if we are to understand iconic as being popular, things are far from objectively measurable. The Fafnir e.g. has a lot going for it, creating popularity: it is likely quite good in MWO, it is of MW:4 fame (MW:4-fans are a notable force on this board), and it has considerable lore-impact (Defiance/LAAF-flagship, new Tech showcase, Archon Peter's personal Mech of choice etc.). So it is not terribly surprising that it leads the IS assault poll, with far more votes than the Nightstar (had).
But do polls tell the whole story? Is the Hollander (currently the leading light IS Mech iirc) really popular or even iconic? I have a much harder time understanding the Hollander's lead. And if it is so popular, should be prioritized despite it offering nothing new, and despite it probably being rather bad in MWO?

I am not saying one should disregard popularity, but one should keep in mind popularity is not a constant or natural law; it is, on the contrary, subjective and subject to change.
