Normally, LRM boats have a couple of medium lasers for backup. But if you dig Srana up, you will find some pure LRM boats.

Yes like this.

Not my sort of a stock load out... At last the Sun Spider looks better then your example.

Well, Yeoman can look pretty OK if you give it a pelvis.

Ain't mine work, but thanks?

Never found out the original artist, cause this pic was posted and reposted all over all sorts of forums and boards.
The only thing i know, is that it's PROBABLY not official artwork

The cockpit was certainly inspired by MWO. Much better than the original.

It would be funny it this drawing was made by Bishop Steiner. ;)

Probably not Bishop's.
Bishop has a very distinct art style, impossible to mistake his art.

If that is true (and it's actually too good to be true but i'll take it), this is the most generous giveaway PGI has ever done so far.

I actually really like the Sun Spider... little love for a less known clan and it looks cute... looks kinda like a 70t Locust.

it's still pretty silly unless those are Thunderbolts though.. would love to see that model rendered with "real" sized Battletech missiles, the tubes would be MUCH smaller.

unrelated to MechCon, I got some happy tidings in my inbox this morning

Posted Image

virgin casting of my Fearbringer, finally completing it's 5 year journey to a resin reality.

(And an update on the REAL Cataphract design to boot.. though not near as sexy as Alex's version)

It's actually on my to do list.

Got a few mechs to do first, but certainly in 2018 I'll have a not-yeoman out there.

I like it! that image is actually not unlike one I have in my sketchbook... though mine is nowhere near as nice... but it certainly demonstrates what CAN be done with the design.

Nice! It's TT size? (and how do I get one?)

I like this very much. It's quite unique and looks like a proper frankenmech.

I have a custom Rifleman IIC mech sitting on my desk that I got done from an online 3d printing service. Decided to get a 3D print job since finding the old Ral Partha models are nearly impossible to find now in days (a few months ago I found an auction for a custom Jade Falcon one which I got really lucky winning on ebay). I glued a base board on the feet since I've taken this image. It's a little larger than most pewter mini's, but not terribly larger. The material it's made out of is pretty sturdy for what it is. I'm still debating of painting it.

Posted Image

It cost me about $40 with shipping. PM me if you want a link to the service that does it.

Yup. Though ONLY if Alex bases it off the VMI original design and not the meh-tastic Reseen. But give us the Robo Sombrero, and I will play it!

I ask her too.

Is the Sun Spider C1 the first LRM only clan stock "missile boat"/ mech?

I thought such builds are rare in lore (hello Catapult A1) and more a mechworrior mechlab thing.

No, because in TT, Clan LRMs get no minrange deadzone or damage reduction, indeed having no penalty whatsoever firing LRMs up close.

LRM-only is actually a perfectly viable go-to weapon layout for a Clan robot.

Due to that warpage on the arms, might I suggest snagging some thin copper tubing and replacing the arm barrels entirely? Should be a cheap mod, but increase the quality a bit. The rest of the model looks great, though!

You know Mech_Con was awesome but wish they would have said more. Granted maybe they feel they said to much last year with skill tree, incursion, and a large FW update with a few other things I can't recall off top of my head.

We knew Solaris was going to be big. But was always hoping for new on if MWO would be ported to UE4 soon-ish. New camo patterns (other Clans camos). More maps besides just city ect.

Don't quote me on that, but wasn't there an interview somewhere where Russ mentioned something like they don't plan to port MWO to UE anytime soon as all their focus is currently on MW5:M and seeing how it plays out before even considering porting MWO?

I mean it would be a huge project porting a game like MWO to a completely new graphics engine.

While true, a lot of the ground work required for it is going to be completed thanks to MW5;M, this is evident by the fact that MW5;M is looking to have up to 4 player co-op, this means that net code will be baked into it. Now if they go that route and make a competitive PvP version of MW5;M, than I would think sticking to teams of 4-8 would be best, rather than the gong show of 12v12 that we get here.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it wouldn't be a lot of work on PGI's part, rather I am saying that some of the ground work for a re-worked MWO in Unreal is being done by MW5:M.
