Very challenging assignment, being a line artist and being a bit of a time crunch job. Still much to learn on the digital front, even for just editing.
That said, still my first official accepted piece of work for Battletech. It can be found on pg 61 of the new (released GenCon 2018) "Shattered Fortress" Sourcebook, by Catalyst Game Labs.
8"x12" pencil and ink on paper, digitally edited via GIMP SketchBook Pro and Photoshop.

been saying this for like.... 2 yrs. (though the AC still needs to be smaller and the PPC pods need to be larger)

I do like CGL's version though as well too. The only one I don't care for is the original artwork. I think CGL's redesign could have moved the cannon to the correct torso location, but really we know why they didn't do that
Either way, even if MWO's Marauder isn't exactly what people wanted, I feel it could have been worse. It could have been the original Marauder concept art for the game (or maybe just a fun exercise not meant to be in the game, not sure).

that is simply the Project Phoenix "Reseen" Marauder. Which, IMO fit the aesthetic, and makes a heck of a lot more sense than the Unseen version ever did. And the MWO one (again, IMO) looks like a Turky given T-Rex arms. A fat waddly bumper boat redesign of a mech mean to be lean, and feral looking. Ugh. I love most of Alex's work, but IMO his Marauder is one of his worst. (do I need to add another IMO for clarity sake, since it seems most people miss the subjectivity of aesthetics?)

Congrats! Someone was kind enough to pick me up a hard copy of Shattered Fortress at GenCon, and I really enjoyed reading it. I also noticed that artwork, and any time a Kuritan takes a Gauss slug to the head, I smile a bit on the inside.

The Project Phoenix Marauder-5R is probably my favorite BattleTech mech. It looks alien, and somewhat insectoid, and very aggressive. A RAC-5 and twin PPCs in table top is some serious firepower. I understand that art is subjective, but that art belongs to us, not Disharmony Pyrite. Had we started using that back when it was released, there wouldn't have been the same amount of trouble that we have suffered.

Now, THAT is a mech I would much prefer over the version by Alex. Alex is a genius, mind you. But I prefer that Marauder 3R greatly to the wide bottomed version we have in game right now.
