As I said, the IIC-2 and the -A will be fine but the others... I don't see myself crawling around with 58 or 63 kph in a Mech as light as 65 tons. At that speed range you will have to content with units like the Marauder IIC.
You're right, I completely mixed up the tonnages.
I'm still not as concerned about the speed (yet)... I just don't want another Night Gyr debacle (mobility of a 90t assault). The real problem is the prominence of nascar, making it hard for the Rifleman IIC to keep up. But that goes for every assault as well. Hey, maybe it'll encourage people to do counter-nascar for once

I actually was terrified of the Cougar's slow speed and fragility, but I learned to make it work and can score pretty consistently. It grew so fast on me, that I really enjoy playing it now. It might not be competitive, but it's definitely fun to play.
I think so far the only mech I really can't make work is the Black Lanner... huge hitboxes and no tonnage to work with, no quirks to really make up for it's fragility.
Maybe PGI will give it the Urbie treatment afterwards... raising the engine cap above the usual threshold. We'll see. I won't write it off until I see it in action.
