A hovering 3rd person sucks and gives to much information that you would not have if you sat in the tight confinements of a cockpit.

Either way, I'm not terribly bothered regardless of which way they decide to go.

I'd also like to point out that mech assault failed for many reasons and 3rd person was not one of them. The people who have been continuously playing MW4 to this day are somewhat divided on the issue as the 2 remaining "leagues," if you can still call them that, are 3P and 1P. The 3P league in my opinion is probably the larger of the 2. The open servers that still exist, 60 or so people on during peak times, are almost always all 3P, occasionally a purtech FFP server will pop up.
If you wanna play some mech in the mean time, www.mektek.net has a free version of the game (its legal), and the 3P league is www.mechwarriorleagues.com
The free version does not resemble the original MW4 mercs much because Mektek has modded the game heavily with more mechs, maps and weapons.
Sorry for the off topic but I thought you could go see for yourselves that MW4 is heavy on 3P players and always has been.

I'm just worried about blind spots like in MWLL.

But blind spots are blind spots for a reason! I mean every cockpit is unique and has its own blindspots. Wouldn't it be cool to sneak up on a mech when your passive knowing he can't see you because you're in his blind spot?

Would like the option for an internal cockpit sensor to show whats around you... until its blown and scrambled during the firefight

Remember this is a future based on the technology of the 1980s, so a lot of the stuff we have now doesn't even exist in the Battletech Universe.
Plus the loss of technology(Lostech) after the fall of the Star League is a contributing factor in the lower tech base.
The only justifiable reason to have a 3rd person view is due to an external drone feeding back data to the cockpit.
And even then it should only take up a portion of your HUD while still sitting in your cockpit with a first person view. It would also be destructible(it dies and you lose that 3rd person camera view).
I could see this being used more as a scouting drone(controllable be the player) in an urban environment.

Sure, I played two of the three MechAssault games, and they were decent enough in 3rd person, but I prefer seeing it from within my mech, not thirty feet behind it.

I am hoping this one will aim more to appeal to a hardcore nitch. Giving it depth and focus to have the hardcore fans playing for years to come. Otherwise just let mechwarrior stay dead... I don't want to see it come back just to be abused and turned into some bland P.O.S....

No qualms with first person only, I never used external cameras much for anything.
