What Would Make This Solo Player Participate More In Cw

It's not that I don't want to play with/like a team, it's more the threshold of getting into a new group of people while having very limited time to talk on TS (mainly playing when kids/partner are sleeping). I don't really feel a need to know the people I play with even, I already have two other groups of gamers to hang with in other games.
I do however WANT to play more CW because I like more complexity and more teamwork, and the thing that would open up CW for me is a simple in-game lobby with in-game voice so that I can hook up with a group that I don't necessarily know at all and just listen to the leaders directives on comms and just be a good soldier while the game is on.
* Lobby
* Voice
* Commander (in-game tool for selecting one commander per match would be nice)
* Profit
What would make You play more CW?

Although, I would agree that an in-game VOIP and a communications wheel would be great (PGI has announced that both are works in progress right now.)

Maybe they need to losen the restrictions on who can attack what to have faster matches. What would be cool is if they kept the selection off planets to play on and units could pay cbills out of the coffer to have the matchmaker funnel players there. Like issue a defense or attack contract that pays out better for a certain amount if time. Theres so many options...

People said they found the factory map dull because it channels and limits people movements, though this is probably being said by non jump mech players.
CW maps have either three or two channels to attack through and you have to defend or attack through the same map over and over.. whoopie

This right here. Currently, CW queue is split into every planet in the galaxy. I don't care if there are 5000 people playing at one moment, that's splitting them into 100 queues and makes the perception of participation tiny. While some might care which planet they are attacking/defending, I would guess many, like me, don't. I enjoy playing CW (PUG on PUG) and would love to queue up for 'First Available match of my faction' to get into games quicker. Waiting 20 minutes in PUG queue to find out i'm facing a defending 12 man clan group is not my idea of fun.

- Planetary Lobbies and/or House/Clan Lobbies - Right now, unless using 3rd party VOIP/forums, the only real interaction between players is during combat drops.
- This is what many are missing when not part of a unit, even if it is just while on TS, the interaction between players other than shooting the target.
- The ability for a non-unit personnel sub-contract with an existing unit. ie A group of 6 9th Sword of the Dragons invite 2 DCMS personnel for x amount of drops. Could expand it to also allow main faction sub-contracts - IS units vs Clan units only. IS vs IS should be left as is.
- Command wheel-type but the chat window needs an overhaul for the Command wheel to really be effective. Having to hit a key to bring the window back up interferes with your ability to fight. The current chat window is not conductive to effective communication. Have had a few to took command and was constantly calling out targets - delta, golf, etc, often enough that the chat display rarely closed. And even in a pug unit both the call target and visible display provided the pug group to function more as a unit than as a pug-everyone for themselves.

Solo vs Solo only Que.

No real Solodropper needs this so called "competive" Groups to have Fun. And with the UnitTags, it would be even easier to prevent Syncdrops.
So, its no big Sience to make CW more atraktive for Solodroppers. Imho.

Pretend for a second that they split the CW queues into "Solo and Small Groups (let's say 4 or less)" and "12 man". You know what would happen? The 12 man queue would turn into a ghost town. Just like it did in the original game. The 12 man groups would start splitting into 4 man groups and join the 'Solo and Small Groups' queue. Change at this point is inevitable because more and more are fleeing from CW because of 12 man rolls, long wait times, and lack of participation.

That's not what I said. I said a solo-only queue and a group queue for all sizes of groups that soloists could join if they wanted to. Read again please.

THIS!
Also open up the existing maps in some way - for instance IS vs Clan options for the existing maps / play options then have the combined results of 48 hours play have some impact on the overall map (something like the results count towards 25% of the planet battles in CW or have the results impact planets not in the CW queue)

I'm not disagreeing with you. In fact, I too lobby for a solo only queue in CW. But the 12 mans cry no. They say CW is for 12 man groups only; that it is hard-mode; and that PUGS should join a large group or get out. The 12 man groups know that if solos got their own queue, that 12 mans would have noone to fight against. The solo queue would take off in popularity and the 12 mans would no longer have their easy wins. That was the point I was trying to make. My apologies if I sounded like I was arguing against you.

This one: especially when dropping on the Steiner/JFC border, I was solo-ing, but almost always was able to get the TS address to get in on the comms. In-game VOIP would be nice, though.

Rather, PGI needs to remove the ghetto completely, and make all drops CW drops. CW isn't gonna work if it's some kind of optional mode for the elite 1% who own every mech, every module, and have full guilds of friends who can go stomping with them.

The population is too small to support the vast number of planet queues in CW. During an hour lunch break I can usually play about 6 non-CW matches. But at most I can play 1 CW match thanks to the 20 minute wait times. Forcing all players to play CW isn't the answer though. Many players don't have a drop deck. And trials aren't viable in CW. Unless you allow PUGs to fight PUGs. Or if you have a single "First Available" queue instead of queueing for specific planets.

Yet, if we force everyone into CW, those wait times diminish as there's a larger pool of players to pull from. So that defeats one of your complaints.
My solution is that if you're grouped with any members of your unit, you're stuck in CW. So if I group up with any of the guys from ELP, we'd be forced into CW. This makes it so that groups of units will be playing units at pretty much all times, and reduces the 12 man stomps you see in the PuG group que. It would also force units that want to play together, to actually play in the mode that matters, instead of just pubstomping constantly.
