I now routinely get 3+ kills, or cap multiple points, but find the rest of my team has accomplished nothing.
My W/L has gone from 1.3 down to 1.1 in very little time, while my K/D keeps climbing.
In 3 matches recently I have had teammates apologize for being "new to the game".
Have I found the legendary ELO hell?
Is this the source of the CarryHarder meme?
I thought that we are grouped with similarly skilled players.
Yep, when you start to get good, you graduate to carrying all the others. Sorry dude.. Took me a while to accept it, but now I don't even rage any more.

We...aehm, I was in Crimson, and it's really nice to run through all those building with seismic... you can see its direction, so it's easy to get its back. and I found a cent. alpha , hide, he ran for me, I encircle it, alpha, cover, encircle, alpha, cover, he could not aim, first k
Then, I went to the bay, I saw a Timber, and I hide back to that lil hill in B3, shot in the back, he started to aim at me, I shot in its cockpit and hide, and he decided to follow me, so when he appeared I could shot again... 2° K
Message in the chat: "That was scary..."
near there, there was a Jager, without an arm, so I thought "What about ripping the other arm too?". So, I waited and moved the right time to go to his back, and Fired a couple of alphas in its arms. His reaction was this: trying to look for where I was... He seemed like dat stalker in "point blanck aim" B33f's video. Then, you know what happens to a Jager without arms...

Comment in chat "A locust sniping with ppc?" (how da hell is possible to counfound 3 pml with a ppc?)
Sadly enough I hid in b2, and there were 3 lights ..and my revenge ended.
Moral of the story: HOW DA HELL is possible to be stomped by such enemy team????
But it's ok, I did my job with 3 k and 450 dmg in a locust.
Who cares if I lose....

Carryharder time. Just deal 800 damage before anyone on your team engages the enemy and you'll be fine.

The better you get, the harder you have to carry. This picture was made before the game lost like 75% of its players, but it's a good visual representation of how MWO works.

The issue isnt trying to carry players. The issue is the complete stomps due to these players(i cannot believe these are players) simply walk into the enemy team at the two minute mark and die.

Honestly, this is what will cause me to drop this game.
Or at least take a break.
When I feel like a participant/team member, it's great.
When I must do everything and the entire game is on my shoulders, not so much.
Or I can just play CW and avoid the ELO matchmaker.

It's quite surprising really. I am hoping good players get teamed up with other good players and instead of good players being given 1300s to balance out the team ELO.
I think 1800s-2000s + some 2800s will provide better games than 2800 + 1300s + cadets.

In short, you're playing with people who are either new to the game, or relearning it, and have garbage can mechs.
I'm one of those people, by the way.

So I'm thinking maybe I misunderstood what the official info (I posted links earlier in this thread) meant by a "1400 threshold" - is that the total amount of spread in ELO allowed (i.e. highest player cannot be more than 1400 above the lowest player) or is that the team average number they're seeking?

I would think individual player... if they allowed 1400 something team elo difference then of course there will be stomps

The team lost 10 to 12 in the end. I was like *facepalm* moment. Remained stunned several minutes after the game.
Anyway, please note that ELO is based on weight class, so you have four different ELOs based on light, medium, heavy and assault. You can have a high ELO on one weight class but lower in another.

the 1400 threshold is the maxiumum Elo threshold the MM searches to. But I don't think it is 1400 anymore, it's been tweaked a few times.
The MM picks a player/Elo rating, it tries to match players closest to that target Elo, as it searches to find players it has an increasing threshold to which it can pick players, so in theory a player can be a 1000 Elo +/_ the target Elo for the match.
