I know there are wallhacks and aimbots in this game.
The Aimbot I know of is exactly working as the OP described.

Prob is I can't proof it cause I never record any games :/

But cheating/hacking in MWO is def. possible

It's the flow and feel/impression of the on going game, also I have noted the issue most often shows up a specific times 0100 - 0900 hrs PST

Well this is an old thread and a good one because you see the barrage of excuses and calls for censorship. 64 later and I still see the same guys white knighting like a boss on other threads.

Head in the sand syndrome and all that or maybe something else now knowing top teams and their leaders where into the hack.

Yeah, their are some amazing players but when you see amazing shots from someone who just stands there or just pops over a rise you can rule out reaction times pretty easily especially when your twisting and turning and each consecutive shot hits the same panels.. Add in that we know in the tourneys the top guys are getting assists from their teams to achieve their high scores and I am pretty convinced a large number of the so called top tier are frauds.

So please stop the BS. We know Hacks exist and we know quite a number use them. Maybe if we saw teams and top players exposing the hacks and trying to alert the player base on how to spot them we could begin to trust again. Educate and stop BSing everyone. It's not working anymore.

I have contacted support but I want to ask here because it was, as of now, just a strange observation...

Thanks.

You can recreate it in the testing ground...go get a mech, get into 3pv and find something to shoot.

Now watch that cursor jump around! It does this because using 3pv is such a terrible things....it helps you shoot because if you have ever tried playing in that view you need help aiming.

Nope. I have seen guys like this, played with a few in drops, and I have seen videos of the best guys here. They don't miss barely ever. I am dead serious. These guys are pros. You probably saw one of the best out there. They are amazing. Not to mention MW:O has guard software built that blocks stuff like aimbot doesn't it?

Your missing one point, the damage is almost fully center mass with little or no other collateral damage.

Agreed - I got a laugh out of all the "leet players" claiming that it was "impossible" to cheat in this game, and that anyone who thought otherwise was a fool. This was then usually followed up by them bragging about how "people have accused them of cheating, but they are just THAT GOOD!" and so on.

64 bans later - and those are the ones we know about - and I guess nobody has any excuses anymore... no more absolute faith in how "impossible" it is to cheat in this game... lol.

I also think that there are not that many hacks out there. However, thinking there are none, isn't that smart either.

So far I reported only 1 incident and that was during last week's contest:
I was hiding behind rocks with ECM cover and did not move (no seismic could pick me up). My seismic showed no movement, there was no UAV up and since I ran along the canyons and I paid a lot of attention no one could have seen me. Then I saw on the radar feed provided by my teammates that 2 mechs (with the same unit tag as I saw later) ran around the corner and beelined my well-hidded position and opened fire. It was obvious they knew I was exactly there. When they started there movement they were at least 800m away and several obstacles lay between us.

Aim bot is alive and well. Had a game on forest colony, and some er large laser build supressed the entire team from 1200 meters away beyond visual. Not to mention that they were able to focus on one location

two most probable explanations it's that either they together went there for some other reason (to flank/hide/snipe w/e) and accidentally met you or that they went to check that well known place to hide just in case and met you

... bit the dust last night in a match and switched over to a guy in 3pv assuming it was some sort of noob but quickly realized that this person was never missing a single shot. It was a fast mover that would buzz openings behind the line and the reticle would jump to the location of a mech and the lasers would fire without any spread whatsoever - the reticle had a bead that did not move once it was on a mech. It's like the cursor locked on a mech while firing and as they moved the reticle was moving to positions on the screen rather than being manually moved.

I'm not the tinfoil hat type but this was a bit too amazing.

I hear folks complain about aim bots but always shrugged it off but now I'm starting to wonder.

Anyone else see funky things like this lately?

Same here, got some odd damage and started spectating on all live team mates I could, over 4 or 5 games late night Friday Pacific cost time and found center crits with little or no collateral damage.

Here's an update. Played in all non CW tourneys and did fairly well and had no odd damage. I did get center crited and also had weapons stripped but the damage was spreed out or in some cases due to almost pointblank shooting, in other words - normal damage not just center crits from extreme ranges.

I hate to say this, but you may have been betrayed by your own teammates. Was there a teammate with the same unit tag as the 2 enemy mechs? It is possible your position was given away through teamspeak. I would like to think the MWO player base is better than that, but some people will stoop to anything.

Yeah there are hackers. Fortunatly, they dont seem to be in every match, and are apparently, mostly very bad pilots.

I had my ECM Kit Fox in Bog tonight. A stormcrow was wallhacking my location. I only fell for it once, as it opened my CT up and I wanted to keep my ECM for the team.

Anyway, no, no UAV, my ECm was fine. No, no siesmic, he was out 450M. he saw me coming up to the ridge, and shot me right as i was exposing. I backed up. Team mate picked up his location, so I could view his dorito. I moved back from the edge. moved left, right, left, his dorito was pointed at me, the entire time. As team mates started to hound him, I moved left(forward now I was pointed that way), hugged the inner wall well back from edge. I moved at least 75M forward. His dorito pointed at me the whole time as he moved in closer, eventually hugging the wall to avoid my teams fire. Few team mates dropped down next to him, and even as he was taking fire from them, he was homed on me until he was dispatched.

So either this was some prototype AI from PGI in BOT form snuck into a match, or some wall hack that was single mindedly focused on securing his kill(one more shot would have done it) and was watching my movements through the ledge "floor" waiting for me to clear.

Look, I have been around for a loooong time now, and pugging the whole time. crazy shinanigans happen. when stuff like this happens, it is just OBVIOUS something is fucky.

Well, I hope that the banning of 64 accounts has helped convince a number of players to stop their cheating ways, or has been a good enough example to deter players from thinking about using hacks.

Unfortunately from what I read around these forums the hacking/cheating software was patched in order to stop PGI from detecting such software.

I would assume that PGI will be examining this software themselves in order to find another detection method and maybe smart cheaters are going to be more careful in when and how they use it.

If you reasonably suspect someone of cheating report them. MWO Support is likely be creating a new list of potential cheaters of which they will examine their game play (and or pc) to identify whom is innocent (just good player) or whom are guilty.

Hacks are out there, thinking otherwise is just being ignorant. BUT, I am not going to get paranoid about them and start accusing players whenever I die to luck/skill, my own silly move or when I see someone get 5+ kills in a game. I do have my video software already to go if I do think something strange is going on.

The sky is not falling fellow players.

Cheers!
Eboli

I don't think the bann of the 64 has doen anything to persuade the hacker users from not using them. In another thread here it was reported that at least some of the 64 are back again and using the same stuff as before, so no learning at all.
