Im a merc i only honor one thing, my contract. Unless the contract says otherwise i will take the path that gives me victory with the smallest amount of cost

As an officer in the 1st Genyosha I would not dishonor myself or my unit by refusing such an honorable request.

Depends on who I am fighting and in what context. If it is Clan vs Clan in a proper trial with batchall, then zell will apply until broken.

Random fight vs random enemies. Of course not :P , being a clansman does not mean being stupid

Reading the question, I assume it is a mid battle situation, the enemy was down to 1 mech and suddenly calls a zell...then the answer is of course : NO.

If the last guy on the enemy team challenged me to a duel:

*laughs into the mic, then opens fire with his two allies*

If the last guy on the enemy team challenged me to Zellbrigen in 3049 pre-invasion:

"*** is a Zelly-bridge-an? *scratches head, then opens fire with his two allies*

Why would you grant a guy a duel. If he didn't want to fight a 3v1, he should've supported his team better so it wouldn't come down to a 3v1. Also, what's to stop the guy from saying he'll duel you in the middle of the map, and while you're heading there he sneaks around back to cap your base.

Nuh-uh this is war, son. (or business for mercs) Duels don't have any place in war.

It's weird to YES as a merc, but I can play along for a while. But I will do expect ambush, because more use to dealing with 3 opponents at once and if it will happen here in MWO I will not call them to Zellbrigen, just bring it on >: )

Of course. If the freebirth wants me to personally relieve him of his mech I would not deny him.

Honor on the battlefield? What kind of moron is this?

I'll laugh and have the Catapults light him up like a christmas tree.

Although I'm 100% clanner at heart, I know very well the players (who are almost entirely cowards by nature) will never accept this, so stop dreaming. 3v1 isn't so bad. It's winnable if you have the skill.

It has nothing to do with cowardice, and everything to do with eficiency. Killing machines do not slow down for some useless sense of wartime pride.

DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR! as a kuritian i would accept the challenge, as it would be both a good way to give my foe a death deserving of a warrior, and to test my own metal.

If I accepted such a stupid challenge, not only would I deserve to lose. . . even if I won I would expect the house to execute me for terminal stupidity on my return.

Indeed. Warfare is not about counting coup, it's about winning. Battle is not the Olympic Games, and I'll go to guns on any arrogant *** that thinks otherwise. Especially if he's a skilled ***, and I'm tired after a long fight.

Answer: I would proceed to the objective, and I would tell the other pilot that he should take a hike if he wants to live. I'm an Inner Sphere Mechwarrior at this point; I'd extend him that courtesy, but not Zellbrigen.

I also would not extend Zell to someone who has shunned it for the duration of that battle; if, however, the IS team announced their desire to stick with it, and did so, I would continue to uphold Zell.

As enemies have no rights, I ignore their call altogether. However, this does not mean that I would accept the call and attempt to cheat. That is dishonourable.

you would be in world of hurt if you ammo dependent and are out of ammo or nearly out. or if you and your other 2 team mates are long range and your looking a fast scout with short range. In PVP i doubt i would give in to the request. having honor is great but cbills and xp are earn in the game i don;t see honor buying ammo or repairs LOL. I here to destroy mechs not role play.

Zelbrigen. A fools notion. No rules in war, fight to win.
