I like the new voice; it sounds more formal and computer-ish which is what I'd expect from a 'mech. As for "online" vs. "nominal", I definitely prefer the latter.

I assume it will be possible to download replacement sound files like most people do in WoT? If so I shall definitely be downloading a MW2 sound pack once it is inevitably released.

Of course it would be nice if PGI would save me the hassle of having to reapply it every time a new patch is released by simply making it the default sound pack, but either way I will have my MW2 sounds whilst playing MWO!

I really hope they do get Carole Ruggier to do the voice for MWO. She does it best IMHO. Purchasable voice packs would be awesome as well, but only if Brian Blessed is one of them! ;)

Sorry, I'd prefer to have something similar to the teaser trailer. The broken pace of the voice work suggests an on-the-fly generation of warnings and statements which seems appropriate. The computer wasn't overpowering either in the trailer, focus could b emade on other things while still keeping "in the loop" with it in the background.

MW2's works for it's time, but i just don't think I'd like to hear it like that now.

Nominal versus Online is irrelevant. I could go either way.

Just to nitpick...

Except that nominal has a different meaning than online. Online simply means the system is on ... it doesn't mean it's working as expected. Nominal meanwhile implies that all systems are online and working within expected parameters.

Also, why do you need the computer to tell you "All systems online" when you've just heard the startup sequence declaring each system is (individually) online?

[Edit] Also, I'm in favour of the MW2 voice ;)

Every mech should have girl voice inside!
And if it's possible to get old MW voice actors - I'd be delighted, just tell me where do I put my money! ;)

I would love it, honestly though I dont care. Hell it could be Liv Tyler or it would be nice if we could load custom voice packs. I want R Lee Ermy.

LOL Brian Blessed would be class as an optional voice! ;)

Patrick Stewart or John Hurt would be good too.

Agreed with the Online vs Nominal. "All systems online" does still have value though - a system may not have come online and you might be too busy with a briefing or something else to notice if something didn't come online as it should. ;)

Should've read up on the mission briefing before you got in your mech ^_^

Still, "All systems nominal" would still flag a warning if a system didn't come online, because that system would not be operating nominally :P

Quite a few people have recommended Carole's voice in the What WOULD You Pay For? Specifically thread. So perhaps it or "nominal" could become a purchasable add-on? "Nominal" is a point of nostalgia for me as well, so I was a bit surprised when the teaser trailer didn't have that.

I personally have a hard time hearing much of a difference between the MW2 Mercs and the voice from the very first teaser/reveal trailer, but when I listen to the "Reboot Reveal - Final" video, the voice sounds far more robotic & distinct. Assuming that non-start up voices sound like the Final Reveal video, I would prefer either the original voice or something less robotic. It might have changed by now thru beta testing.
