Interestingly, thats what I thought they were going to do. I remember an ask the devs some time back where they were asked if CW was going to be one big server or many servers and their reply was "many many servers"

From what I understand, the CW universe is spread to as many servers as may be required depending on load (i.e. load distributions).

So sync dropping to you tin foilers is when MM puts 2 people from the same unit in the same match and not that it's some conspiracy and the players are sitting in TS trying to do it on purpose. Ok I get it now. If you call that sync dropping no wonder you see the evil premade bogeyman everywhere.

This is more hilarious than the OP.

No kidding, like Clanners can afford to make another account for CW after paying for last years PGI overhead costs.

Well all of this synch dropping is moot because Voip will change the complextion of solo. It may take a while but coordination will come along with warnings in realtime. That alone will knock many farmers back because they meet little resistance right now. I see over and over again solo drops lose not because they were lacking as players but because they got jumped and could not react in time or coordinate a response on the fly At minimum it will reduce the stomps.

I am sure the pros will still have their time due to expereince and knowing those who drop with them but thats not a lot of matches right now.

And the shaman of the cult of Nosyncdrawp shows up.

VOIP is poised to be an unmitigated disaster and will be blamed for not being an easy button for pugs over practicing groups.

It should be off by default. Likely made unavailable regularly also.

In my opinion, PGI needs to make it abundantly clear to all players that CW is the real deal and not a kiddie pool. I don't think everyone who plays CW realizes that there's no safety mechanism preventing them from dropping in their silly stock mechs against the best players in the game.

I'm talking about in-game warnings / tutorials too. Not the good old "Oh, didn't you read our Command post from october 2014? It's on the forums!"

Are you serious?

The "solo queue" is actually the "new player experience" since PGI can't figure out how to make an interactive tutorial. CW is just an extension of that.

Sure, to all the group players out there, CW is something they've been waiting for....all the bells and whistles and all. To new players, it's just another place to drop in a trial mech and wander about aimlessly until someone teaches them how to play.

Losing PUG games against premades is unbearable? Group up with some friends (it's even possible to make some in game).

Can't stand against clanners? Sell your IS mechs and buy some Clans to stomp around.

Just. Stop. Whining.

Which will never happen. PGI has little interest in the new user experience based on what we've seen so far, and CW has been taken over by sadists who enjoy seal-clubbing because it makes them feel more manly. The basic reality is that there is no "community" in community warfare; it has become "play it my way - and give me free wins over PUG's - or get lost, noob!"

Look at the CW forum and the try-hards there that have run new players and casuals out of CW. They don't want people learning how to play or improving their skills. Oh, sure - they'll scream about "getting on mah level or gettin' rekted, noob!" all day, but when you offer any suggestions that might help new or casual players have a better CW experience and grow their abilities in that game mode, they scream like howler monkeys and throw crap at you because you're threatening to take away their PUG-roll wins. Even though most people who play CW are probably normal, their opinions on the format's problems go unheard and they are not the ones encountered by new players who investigate the CW forum for help; instead, they run into the trolls and brats and then quit.

Is it any wonder so many people have quit CW?

First time you and I agree! Solos are going to get one heck of a nasty shock once people settle in-assuming enough of the pop use the built in voip. I'm expecting forum whines to increase-more specifically the "I die too fast" variety.

This whole thing has been utterly bizarre and amusing in equal measure. "PGI I don't want to teamwork, make me a queue-Oh wait PGI give me a way to teamwork while your'e at it."
Utterly odd. With the group options coming up-why bother being in a unit? Just log on shootzrorz some mechs, make some temporary throwaway friends you don't care about and log off. What's the point of units?
Score game.,set and match for the "why should I?" brigade.

Invest in a clan drop-deck. No doubt that would change everything ;)

You really need to start looking at the join dates, man.

The solo queue has gotten worse since June when they re-wrote the MM. That much is easy to see. The solo queue is also the closest thing PGI has put out to teach new people how to play. They learn to get their butts kicked in the solo queue, run to CW and get it kicked even harder.

Welcome to MW:O.

VOIP won't be the holy grail of saviorship as many of you think it will be for the solo queue. All you have to do is look at Planetside 2's lonewolf cert farmers to see how effective it is.

The only thing it does is allow units/outfits to talk to non-members who are in their squads. But in MWO the solo player is seperated from the group queue.. so its pointless. You know what would do these people more good? A public lobby and a TS server they can use.

This assumes they will use it. Because... if they aren't using TS already for their faction, what makes you think they will use VOIP? Oh they'll use it of course. But not in the altruistic way you might think.

The solo queue is fine as it is. They don't really even need ELO anymore because the SOLO and Group queues have been separated. I mean seriously, what is one person's skill going to mean in a match? Its 12 people shooting at 12 people. Its not anymore complex than that. And when I say 12, I mean 12 random uncoordinated peeps.

You want to know why one side dominates? Its not player skill. Its the lack of coordination. Both sides mill about until a mech comes into view and gets blasted. Then another, and another. If it so happens that these kills are traded between teams, the match has a chance of being close.

Its frequently not. So a 12v12 turns into a 12v10, then a 12v9, and then a 12v6.. Thats why there are stomps. It wasn't because of some goldenboy uber skilled mechwarrior on one team. it was just luck that caused it. Sometimes the opposite happens and a 12v12 goes to a 12v11 then 11v11, then 8v7, and so on to make for a close game. Sometimes it doesn't and it goes close for half the game till its about 9v7 and then 9v2 because of the mech placement.

Its not a skill disparity causing this. It comes down to who is exposing themselves and when. And as I've said before, VOIP won't help this. Try it. Download PS2, and try to coordinate random PUGs to fire on the same vehicle. I will be surprised if you get ONE person to help you.

And judging by the responses in the VOIP thread.. the PS2 community is far more mature than this one. So don't try to make that argument.

I synch dropped in solo to inform. Too many of the usual mouth breathers deamding proof yet no proof over two years was good enough or the goalposts for proof got moved. My decision along with a few other was instead to just do an occupy movement in solo and let the masses see how easy it was done. A few thousand witnessed it which only makes the "It doesnt happen crowd" look like the imbecilles they really are. Now many can see the differnce between truth and propaganda.

Stopped a while back after Voip was annouced. It was the end goal anyways and unlike farmers and the large group of perpetual liars here we had no need or desire to take advantage of others on the feild.

To the OP I ask he hangs on. When voip comes in things will get better.

Synch dropping done by you and your crew does nothing to prove that other people do it. If your point is to prove that it's possible, well, great, it's obviously possible and few have ever argued that it's not. It doesn't matter how many times YOU do it, that doesn't count as proof that any significant number of others are doing it.

Or are we just making assumptions about the player base?
