Never been a fan of the meta box thinking. Feel free to track me down on ComStar NA TS if your that bent over it.
You don't decide the range of engagement in a 100ton assault mech. Your opponent dictates in what range he wants to fight you.

I've seen better. I ran across a 3 LRM5 Centurion AH last night.

The LRM Atlas is definitely a strong candidate for the Meta Game of "doing nothing in particular" and "making the match last ten seconds longer because you're the last guy alive with a hundred points of armor", and I applaud Clan Davion for using such groundbreaking strategies in the games that I am fighting against them.
LRM atlases with XL engines and machineguns are a staple of bad golds everywhere.

I give thanks to the mech lords whenever I come across such a beast.

1. Put a bunch of guns on it
2. Shoot enemy Mechanized Walkers, often referred to as Mechs.
3. Hit the "open/close claws" key as often as possible to intimidate the enemy into surrendering.
4. Don't put LRMs on it you moron
So teh Stock Build has it wrong? You do understand the Concept of combat is to be able to hit the enemy where you find him. Sometimes that includes when he is out of LoS. Every Marine Fireteam has at least one NewbTube. An indirect fire weapon. Thats 3 per squad and 12 per Platoon. But you would say there should not be that kind of weapon cause You don't like them.
It amazes me how folks wanna play a Combat game, yet don't wanna deal with combat.

That is in your opinion. And in my Experience a well rounded force able to cover a area with coordinated overlapping fields of fire beat teh snot out of less rounded forces. The difference is in the coordination. That 100 ton Mech is just one member of a squad. If the group knows what that 100 tonner has they can cover his weakness. Not suggesting that the 100 tonner should not have back up weapons. But I just see narrow vision in your opinion.

To this date I still scratch my head over why you keep applying your real life marine experience in a robot arena deathmatch, Joe.

Here's a novel idea, bring LRMs and something else. It's a 100 ton mech FFS you can have LRMs and other weapons and use them both.

Cause combat is combat. and I learned how to combat in the Marines. I also was introduced to CBT by a Marine and a Lance is a fire team and a Mech Company is a Marine Rifle squad in numbers. So You tell me why wouldn't I look at the game with a Infantry perspective?

There are a lot of differences between real-life combat scenario and arena deathmatch played within a very constrained landscape. From a lot of your arguments I get the impression that you don't seem to recognize those difference.

Well there you go. You are mistaken. On small scale (12 man Squad) There is little difference between an Arena deathmatch and real life battle. Other than lethality.
