Or more accurately know what you're doing. Which is what those some people...kinda fail at.

You missed the point he was making Kon.

He is playing the game to make himself happy. I thought that was the point in playing games?

(These two quotes were supposed to be in one post but someone did a bit of postception before I could get it in).

It is. It's a good point too.
(But just how many of us are happy when we lose repeatedly with a build that isn't really working out for the way the player is playing? Would you be happy if you kept playing a build that you made, if that build isn't working for you?)

You mean like Me in Commandos?
COMMANDO COM-2D 5 2 3 0.67 0 4 0.00 496 2,310 00:28:55
COMMANDO COM-3A 3 1 2 0.50 0 3 0.00 89 1,025 00:16:18
COMMANDO COM-1D 32 11 19 0.58 0 27 0.00 1,023 11,740

I have to use one if I want my Atlas or King Crab. I am forced to use Lights to have Assaults in CW.

Pretty sure the original-original poster is referring to regular matches.

In a regular match I never HAVE to use a Commando, and my Mechs are tricked out to make me happy and my enemies dead.

Cause combat is combat. and I learned how to combat in the Marines. I also was introduced to CBT by a Marine and a Lance is a fire team and a Mech Company is a Marine Rifle squad in numbers. So You tell me why wouldn't I look at the game with a Infantry perspective?
is scale.

"I learned how to combat in the marines for 6 weeks when I was 18 years old and then spent 4 years filing paperwork and I feel like this gives me a unique perspective on this giant robot videogame"

Why do so many pogues have this need to pretend that they're some unique keepers of combat knowledge when they've seen less combat than the average person living in a major city in the united states.

My basic training was 12 weeks... get your facts straight, knave =p

Besides, not everyone ends up fighting piles of paper.

But....BUT!

It has 4 missile hardpoints and im scuured of seeing the other mechs!

Smart mech pilots kill without ever being seen.

I know I know... hard to grasp but it works well for the entirity of military history... and even military games that offer this possibility.

Here's a novel idea, bring LRMs and something else. It's a 100 ton mech FFS you can have LRMs and other weapons and use them both.

This would be a great idea. Except 80% of people I see who bring lrms are bringing only lrms and mayyyybe a laser or two, and enough ammo to act as a catalyst in a fission bomb. Not to mention the people who bring these types of builds will just fire off their lrms at any target that pops up on their screen from 600+m away.

Well there you go. You are mistaken. On small scale (12 man Squad) There is little difference between an Arena deathmatch and real life battle. Other than lethality.

I'm pretty sure that in real life, you weren't being shot at by 200 foot tall metal Iraqis with high powered lasers and railguns, unless Saddam's army has kept them a secret for all these years.

Wait, was that the reason we never found WMDs in Iraq? Everyone was looking for nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons when what G.W. really meant was Saddam's secret Mech army?

LOL Would it matter? Combat is Combat, and combat strategy is combat strategy. The approach is the same. You and your weapons v me and mine.

When you are being shot at it doesn't matter the height of teh assailant. I have been in the line of fire of a 50 cal. Did it matter if it was on a Tank or tripod? The idea is to get to cover and not get shot.

And here is why people think LRMs are bad.

Given, I'll pop off a shot at long range- but FFS, that's to scare them back into cover, not because I expect a hit. If I'm over 600m, odds are unless it's Caustic/Alpine, those missiles are going to only kill dirt. The LRM boat that doesn't try to move closer is the LRM boat that gets cut off, whiffs most of their shots, and dies at under-100 damage while QQing furiously about "locks" on team chat.

(Protip: The closer you are, the less time you need a lock held- or can get said locks yourself.)

Yeah, a King Crab can mount meaningful amounts of LRMs AND a respectable non-missile battery- as I said, it's better for this than the Atlas. Putting 30 LRM tubes on it and backing those up with other guns is doable, given it's tonnage- and you don't need an XL to pull it off. Heck, you can do ALRM45 on some versions and still have a better close arsenal than most LRM boats.

ALRM30 can look like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...2cee59455189740
ALRM45 like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7561c8aba847e59

Neither needs an XL to function, and the ALRM15 couldn't fit one if it wanted to.

LRM60 is just plain insane to slap on a KGC, IMHO. But then, I think that takes serious quirks to manage properly, something only the Awesome-8R has in that weight class.

I wasn't aware modern warfare consisted of twelve on twelve deathmatches with light, medium, heavy, and assault Marines and not driving around Baghdad in a Humvee waiting to be blown up by an IED someone hid in a pile of trash last night.
