Summary:
165 deg of YAW is ok, 190deg is not and using [F] Centre Legs to Torso causes spinning and weirdness.
A little testing with my small garage of mechs, seems any mech that have upto (this is the limit of my mechs) 165 deg of YAW rotation is fine, (eg Stormcrow) in my findings.
My hunchies [HBK] all have 190 deg (love this) of YAW rotation and all exhibit the CRAZY rotating and spinning when the [F] Centre Legs to Torso button is used. Hitting [C] Centre torso to legs seems to over ride and correct the spinning.
Is there a point where a certain amount of YAW rotation causes the bug?
anyone with a mech that has YAW between 165 and 190 to find the point at which this happens?
+1 to your observations.
As to your hypothesis, Sarlic said it happened to his Atlas, and they have a narrow range of motion. <shrug>
Maybe the bug is with certain chassis'.
Or maybe I misunderstood Sarlic.
Anyway, here is some detail from a couple of pages back:

Testing the glitch Catho and I found that any mech that had the torso yaw and skilled yaw bonus that exceeded 180, that pushing the default F key would basically try to center your mech to the rear facing. With the Ice Ferrets and Stormcrows, it is possible that it doesn't happen but it is based on what pods you have mounted and the bonuses that are provided there. 2 out of 3 of my Stormcrows had 180+ and those were the ones affected. All my Enforcers had the problem and I only tested on my Ice Ferret A since I knew I could torso turn almost backwards on it and it also has the issue. So if you hover over the mechs in mechlab to see the info, any of them that show the 2 numbers adding to exceed 180 wil have the issue.
My Enforcers only have the Basic efficiencies unlocked, so maybe they'll be immune until I have the Elite efficiencies and the Basics are doubled.
