1.) Cash shop based games work well. The model is great for the developer, the paying customer, and the non-paying customer. There are less options for the non-paying, but that doesn't equate to an obvious advantage for the paying. See "League of Legends" for the most successful current cash shop that has a strict non pay to win mentality. This same formula would work well with MWO. At this point in the online gaming world, anything else (especially a box price with no sub) means death. I'm frankly suprised GW2 is still doing it. But they have plenty of costs and will pump out expansions.

2.) $0 -$120 can be anywhere from enormous to trivial depending on who you ask. If the $120 i spent so far keeps me entertained for a month at worst case, I'd still consider it money well spent. That's less than taking my wife to Disneyland for a day. Some would debate the quality of entertainment there, i guess. At any rate, quality entertainment is worth spending money on in my opinion. What else is money for?

3.) Plenty of info on the game if you look at the videos on this site, search the forums, youtube, etc.

I mean, good luck and all. But why stick your nose up at something free that has real potential?

This calls for a minor update on the meme thread. :D

Edit:

Don't worry guys. It's a free game. He can do what he wants while waiting and he still has a chance to check it out in open beta. :P

As a community of gamers that are total strangers. I am concerned. I will have to rely on some of you to cover my six, answer my call for firesupport, and save my bacon when the enemy attempts to lay a smacking down upon me. My concern is how quickly we all appear to be to pile on and ream someone a new one. It seems to me in my humble opinion that this thread should have died a quiet death of few to no replies.
I think this reflects poorly on our gameing community. If we love this game and franchise as much as we say we do. I think we should treat it, and everyone who posts on it's forum with respect and conduct ourselves in a manner that is respectful to all. This of course my opinion and it is no worse or better than anyone elses.

If you don't like it, leave. You don't need a thread to announce your departure because quite frankly, none of us agree with you and you're only going to spark arguments.

Gonna be flat and blunt as a board. Nobody cares. It reads to me as one of two things an attempt to have people take pity or an attempt for an unkown objective and a final screw you as you head out the door. I'm truthfully sick of these as people are like "Oh, well I don't like it but, have yet to try it so peace and btw you guys who paid are lapdogs and suck."

Edited for clarification

Eh?
Someone complaining that their time was wasted on a game that isn't even launched yet, so no time could be possibly consumed playing it?
I'm not sure if this is really amusing or truly pathetic.

Make the call once the game releases. I mean really it is not that far away. If you have played League of Legends you will know the pay to get stuff thing can work and is not actually intrusive.

It's just not the 5 I was waiting for in many ways, I do understand the free to play model, and their wasn't a MW that I didn't play for years, but to play this for years I have to PAY for years, cuz lets face it, nothing is free, Legendary, Elite and Veteran, no free models, the Mech Warrior Universe has now been monetized, don't get me wrong, I will pay for a game, but I wont pay for another Blizzard model, and I smell 'pay' and 'pay' and 'pay'.

I completely agree that developers should absolutely positively be paid for their work, I do not pirate anything, I do use open source software to my hearts content and yes I know that this is NOT open source.

I don't like the model, I have not seen anything beyond artwork, I have had forum posts deleted for being excited about playing (political correctness has come to forums), I will have to pay for gamer bandwidth, big time hardware to be competitive, which I don't mind, I'll have to buy mechs to try them, I dont know the load outs, I dont know about repairs or spawns or spawn points but I do know that a bunch of people are going to have a FOREVER advantage because they did pay.

So keep it Piranha, Legendary, Elite and Veterans, that have never played, keep it, I'm just pissed that I invested this much time already. So delete me, whatever.....

This is not MW5, good luck but I have better things to do...

You already invested too much in this game??? You never played it, posted 14 times on the forum, you didn't pay a cent... and you invested? LOL

I know people play free game that invested 1000x what you did here.

I don't think this is a big loss for the community and developers.

The interesting thing is that the mods just closed a thread discussing this thread, because it was made to inflame and cause drama on the boards. Is that not the definition of this entire thread? Saying "I quit" to a game that has not been released yet is kind of like breaking up with your wife/girlfriend for having a baby, when she isn't even pregnant.

This thread is the weakest link.... goodbye.

I tell you what.

With the abundance of CRAP I have to pay 60$ dollars for I will gladly pay 120$ for Mechwarrior (when I can.) I mean cut them some slack they are doing the best they can with the F2P model. They are making it happen. They have a passion for Mechwarrior and they have already proven that they listen to the community.. ? And the best part? No BOBBY KOTICK is associated with the product! winn4r!

It's WoT but without the tanks and with everybodys fav batlle mechs.... what more could you want?

And WoT is indeed a money sink... if you want it to be, but it does not need payment, only advantage paying gives you is faster leveling and easyer maintenence for your stuff. and i'm geussing it's going to be the exact same here.

i can't wait for it to be launched so i can finally start blowing up stuff with rail guns :P

ps... MW5... this is not 5 never anounced as 5 it's online aka makes it better not fighting AI but real people making the challange a lot better.

you have to give respect to get respect. the OP gave none, he just railed on a game that is still in closed beta. he was crying about the founder mechs, whos only difference from normal ones is a paint job and a few extra cbills per match. thats it.

as for the game and team mates. I always drop in to any match: ME3, Halo, whatever, watchin my teams backs. when they stop watching mine or try to run off and be rambo is when I stop watching theirs.

what really gets me is 90% of the ppl responding are Legendary Founders lol. Cracks me up. Someones gotta pay for the server upkeep for the free players. Dont hate US cus were paying the bills for YOU to play free. And geebus man try the game before you bash it, mmmkay?

EDIT: Also on the first page theres someone who said, "oh look you only have so many posts so you must have SO much time invested in the game" - To you I say this: I havnt been a member for too long myself and only have 49 posts at time of posting this BUT I spend 2-3 hours a day reading forums (if not more) so dont judge a troll by number of posts man! :P
