I'll take that bet, just because I doubt they'll bother to change names.

It's free. Attention-grabbing drama aside, why would you not at least try the game when it appeals to your interest and doing so costs literally nothing?

He'll just play under the same name because nobody will remember he made this post. I hope he comes back, my Atlas is hungry for fodder.

It's just not the 5 I was waiting for in many ways, I do understand the free to play model, and their wasn't a MW that I didn't play for years, but to play this for years I have to PAY for years, cuz lets face it, nothing is free, Legendary, Elite and Veteran, no free models, the Mech Warrior Universe has now been monetized, don't get me wrong, I will pay for a game, but I wont pay for another Blizzard model, and I smell 'pay' and 'pay' and 'pay'.

I completely agree that developers should absolutely positively be paid for their work, I do not pirate anything, I do use open source software to my hearts content and yes I know that this is NOT open source.

I don't like the model, I have not seen anything beyond artwork, I have had forum posts deleted for being excited about playing (political correctness has come to forums), I will have to pay for gamer bandwidth, big time hardware to be competitive, which I don't mind, I'll have to buy mechs to try them, I dont know the load outs, I dont know about repairs or spawns or spawn points but I do know that a bunch of people are going to have a FOREVER advantage because they did pay.

So keep it Piranha, Legendary, Elite and Veterans, that have never played, keep it, I'm just pissed that I invested this much time already. So delete me, whatever.....

This is not MW5, good luck but I have better things to do...

Can I haz your beta key?

Free to Play (FtP) Games like MW:O and WoT are the future. Sure current types of games will still exist but FtP features will become more and more common. Not only can they charge subscription fee's but they will eventually figure a way out a way to advertise in the games some how. This should bring down subscription costs and make the game more accessible for players.

I read an article on Forbes the other day saying the developers for the next Gears of War are thinking of going to an FtP format.

So FtP is here to stay if you like it or not.

I must say that this "nothing" thread has given me a damn good laugh this afternoon.
As much as the OP'er is an *****, he has in some way contributed to the enjoyment of my day.

But most of the credit goes to everyone here who chipped in with their comments, so thank you.

So...let's see if I got this straight.

You're going to "pass", because everything is "pay, pay, pay". And yet...

We have no idea what items are available in the cash shop, we have no idea what the pricing model is going to look like, but we do know that the developers have stated, on NUMEROUS occasions, that there will be NO items available that confer a significant advantage over a non-paying player.

Yes, those that shelled out some cash upfront will have an advantage in the c-bill department. Big deal. They are still limited to the exact same 'Mechs and equipment a free player gets, they'll just have the funding to get things sooner. Not a real big advantage in my opinion.

And, as was said above, if all you've seen is artwork, you really haven't been looking hard enough. There's this lovely area on the website right here, the media section, that's got some wonderful gameplay videos available for our viewing pleasure. Surprised you missed those.

I completely agree that developers should absolutely positively be paid for their work, I do not pirate anything, I do use open source software to my hearts content and yes I know that this is NOT open source.

dude what ever your smoking, better stop right there.

No Free mechs ? Where did you get that from. You get a free starter mech and buy mechs with the money you earn in matches.
No Artwork ? Once again, you ever looked into the media section ?

Well.....they aren't going to force you to pay anything. I'm sure it won't all be PvP and I've got to admit that I played WoW for over 7 yrs. till I finally quit for good. I still love the gameplay of it but I'm done with it. In my experience with other MMO's I have to say that this is new in it's gaming play style then WoW. You can always decide to pay and not to pay. I think it is worth a shot if you like Battletech, but you are not giving them any chance to prove the game's potential if you don't try it.....You can't quit something you haven't even started.

I respect your opinion but don't get your hopes down just yet, Even though you're not impressed at the moment that could always change for the better.
