The "whole afternoon"? The server outage was approximately two hours.

But check Russ Bullock's Twitter. PGI doesn't care about their own forum too much, they use Twitter and Reddit for important messages instead.

For those who work, have family or like keeping a balance one how much time they invest in the game, some hours are drasticaly more valuable than other. For me, for instance, the patch sliced in half the time I have to play during Friday, that is from 20:00 to 24:00. So even if it was two hours, it may represent that day's play opportunity being evaporated.

Seriously why do we not use match score as a metric for these challenges? Is there a good reason? Has there ever been any comment from PGI ever about it?

Does anyone else feel like it would be a far better way to score these events? I certainly do.

Events like this produce a lot of hate, between the players and toward the game too. Why you do it again and agin PGI?

It does seem to be nearly impossible to do playing solo, if you can't sit at your pc all day for 2-3 days straight. I'm not going to bother with it.

So far 35 played, 23 wins, 15 points.
LRMs hitreg bad, multiple times using LOS , TAG, Artemis, high ground, distance 250-300m,
target standing exposed, direct hits - no damage. Could be that during the LURMchallenge server cannot handle all hits.
Funny, with pulse lasers - surgical precision in destroying components.
Love this game (sometimes).

Just want to point out that if you have a perfect streak of winning 50 games in a row, your average time spent playing will be about 8 1/3 hours, the equivalent of a full work day. In exchange you're getting what, maybe 20$ worth of "free" stuff. If the game could still be played like normal that would be something, but everyone runs around desperate to get their damn kill, generally causing a loss and breakdown of good play. Maybe if PGI read these posts they would know this, but they're too busy laughing at us.

1st off, thanks PGI for giving away so many goodies this weekend! I think the rewards are pretty sweet.

2nd, that being said, the grind is incredibly difficult. I hadn't anticipated it being this hard, but the pugs are awful this weekend. It seems that everyone is forgetting that you have to win as well as get a kill.

3rd, Most pilots I encounter now aren't using the VOIP which contributes to the problem outline above. To those reading this, enable your VOIP! It makes it a whole lot easier to win a match if you can coordinate with each other!

It makes the most sense. If tracks your over all contribution and you can get points even if your team drops the ball. They did this for the holiday event and even a new player like myself was able achieve goals.

Felt like playing a little bit more today.

- 50 pts achieved on 17:38:21 UTC (i believe that is what the tableau shows)
- did Elite the Raven I got for 25 pts on the way
- used WVR-6K for a couple of matches to see how it fares after de-quirkening (turns out not too bad): 4 out of 8 games qualified for a point
- used my ERLL Spider for a couple of matches as well. Not a great DMG dealer, mind you: 3 out of 5 games qualified for a point
- reverted back to FS9-S for the last couple of games: 4 out of 4 qualified for a point.
- don't have a mic on my PC, so only passive VOIP, so to say.

All in all, I had 65 wins out of 94 games, which equates to 69,14% win ratio.
I didn't see too many LRM spams in this challenge either.

it was disabled due to problems.
And, as predicted prior, very few wanted this it seems-or the few were very vocal in making it seem it would be "all that".
Very few were using it in pugs. larger drops always use TS or something else.

If you already have a mastered 3L will the champion variant be mastered as well?

I haven't had any problems with it to date. While my Unit does use TS, being able to communicate with other Units during group drops is a major plus.

VOIP isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing.

Yes, because its the same mech. the (C) only means that it gets the 30% XP Bonus (which is only relevant for farming GXP in your case)

Edit: about the Event...its just frustratig for me. someone wrote about a 69% scoringpercentage-just wow. i got 7 Points out of 30 games. Today´s not my day...

I already have the mech, and am not super interested in the pattern necessarily, but either way, I actually haven't had much time to play this weekend, so even if I'd had some amazing tear of qualifying matches, I likely would not have been able to finish all 50 pts.

That being said, my only real gripe with this kind of thing, specifically the score format I think, is that tough grind or not, it just changes how people play, in my opinion, generally for the worse. I think this where the root of most of the complaints lies actually.

It just seems to make the game less enjoyable overall for those who are attempting the grind, as well as for those who are simply interested in just plain old playing. Complete the challenge or not, I believe most of us just want out time spent playing the game to feel "fun", and right now, it just kind of doesn't for many. And that's a bit of a bummer really.
