I swear, the Timberwolf's bunny hopping ability via feathering the jump jets is one reason, if not the main reason, that Timberwolves are able to sustain as much damage as they do. It's been a broken mechanic that is abused by many pilots in all Elo brackets, and it's been broken ever since the Timberwolf was released.

PGI, I know in a previous town hall it was stated this would be looked at in the future, but this is a pretty big problem that has a serious influence of balance, and it really needs to be fixed. Not just for the Timberwolf, but all the mechs with broken jump jet animations.

Agreed. This has been an issue since release of clans and the only thing done to correct it was to Nerf every IS mech capable of wubwub.

They weren't locked at first, and people complained, then they locked them.

I agree, I can't believe they haven't fixed this. it's practically an exploit. It's frustrating. People don't even use them as intended, they flutter them to purposely break their hitboxes

I don't see how that relates to the discussion. I'm fine with Timberwolves and other mechs having locked jump jets. I'm talking about the bunny hopping animation problems that cause hitbox and HSR issues, which allow Timberwolves to survive many shots that would kill and/or cripple it.

Here's an idea. Let's implement jump jets.

Oh wait, everyone is using jump jets for their intended purpose. We don't want people climbing up tough terrain or pop sniping let's Nerf them into complete waste of tonnage.

Oh hey, we nerfed jump jets into utter uselessness and now pilots are spamming them to distort hotboxes and jump animations.

Oh well, timberwolf has jump jets. Can't fix that.

Continue using exploit.

I see a fair bit of timber-hopping in game. At first I didn't know what the deal with it was, because it just looked like an animation spaz-out. But yeah, after trying to hit up-and-down warping timberwolves I see now it's an exploit. Damage is applied anywhere on the mech when it does that, even the rear armor when shooting it from the front.

unlock the JJs and most timberwolf pilots will remove them.
They were considered a nerf when they got locked.

It's a problem with almost all JJ animations. I've been going into 3PV a the start of matches if I have JJs just to see how bad most of them are, and there are a significant amount that are really bad. The TDR-9SE is pretty significant in its bounce as well.

The animators dropped the ball on this one as it seems the entire rig jumps when entering the animation yet world positions or the cockpit do not follow the same jump. If they jumped like because of JJ mechanics that would be another story but this is just part of the animation and doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Or you know, they could fix a crappy exploit.

Oh there's an exploit? Well buff timber wolves and I'll stop using it.

Gotta love the thought process of some people on here.

It's not just the twolf. How about just "fix the broken hitbox/hsr flutter jump jet garbage" instead?

What about the Firestarter, Or Spider?

they get the same bonus and the Spider's hitboxes are so broken it can stand still and just dodge bullets.

Remove the exploit, and Timberwolves will be as fragile as any other mech.

And do the same for Blackjack-1&3, Victor, and any other JJ mech that can exploit as well.

It is very relevant. Most Timberwolves that have jumpjets only have 2 of them because they just want the extra hard points in the S side torso that happens to have 2 locked jumpjets.

If they weren't locked, most people would find something better to do with those 2 crit spaces and 2 tons.

IS complaints about Timberwolves led to these evasive jet jukes. Something that is possible on every mech that has jump jets, by the by.

Oh no, guys, they've learned the secret! They've figured out that feathering on virtually any mech can disrupt damage and that this has been known literally since CB, and is generally regarded as a part of play in higher tier matches!

Wait, they're blaming this for why the Timby is too stronk?

Oh Noes, my crutch is in danger.. better scream and cry.

If crap like this wasn't part of "legit" gameplay mentality, we probably would still have Victors and Highlanders that could get off the ground.

You think locking down the S sides was a buff?

Really, those builds were tight, and 4 tons of useless JJs made the x4 SRM builds die overnight.

Uh, feathering wasn't changed by the JJ changes. If anything, it made feathering more prominent in play.

>Crutch

>3/4ths of deck doesn't have JJs.
