It's surprising to see that just removing the win condition makes the community applaud the same broken event format that was frowned upon last weekend.

Nobody complains about getting free stuff, but in the Like A Champion Mark II thread, several problem areas of the current event format had been pointed out - and good suggestions have been made how to improve them. It's a pity that except for one tiny aspect none of this has been taken into consideration.

So basically, we'll witness the same selfish playstyle like last weekend - with the additional joy of even more matches being crippled by everybody disconnecting after they scored their K&A.

Sounds fun...

I feel bad for you if you actually get pugs that disconnect after they get a kill and assist. Everyone I play with in pugs sees the match out especially myself since I find that it is up to me to end a match occasionally.

That and if they disconnect before dying (or suicide farming) can get them in big trouble.

DCing after they die is fine (unless suicide farming) but even then....

I like this event more because of no win condition and here is why.

In the other events, you are playing like normal, get a kill, and then you are faced with a dilemma. You want to share kills, so you start crippling enemy mechs instead of outright killing them. Problem is, they still are able to keep firing and your team isn't finishing them off fast enough. You know that if you don't start killing them, your team will lose. So...what do you do? Go get 4 kills just doing your normal fighting, and then your team hates you at the end, despite the match ending 12 to 7, and if you hadn't killed those other three, it likely would have been 7 to 12.

Now, I can sit back after getting a kill, farm components, and not worry if the team wins or loses. Make it much easier for others to get kills, so they will be successful for the event. Most of the time anyways, I run around in a locust and just leg lone assaults and leave them. Not worth finishing them off half the time. So now, I finally get rewarded for doing so.

Any way to make it per mech played rather than per match? Would be great to get up to 4 points per CW match instead of having to play 80 CW matches. Might even encourage more people to play CW....

I'm not supporting this just because Divine is in my unit. I have had the same thought that a CW match needs to be considered differently because of the substantial time consumed in each match.

I notice this is called an "Event" and not a "Challenge". I can see why. You can get stuff while "Losing!" WTF! Gamers today...
Have to wonder how many more weeks before PGI caves and sets the bar at just showing up gets you a "Participation Ribbon Point" 3 points get you any Mech you want. LOL!

Killing, Winning and actually helping the Team (Assists) must be to hard for so many...bummer. :(

The whole point of such events/challenges is to get people to play more. Particularly, people who have more time on their hands than they know what to do with it.

Personally I liked the X-mas event where matches counted for the prizes only if your score was 80+ (if I remember correctly). I figured that was a fair scale. You had to do solid in a match. Did a lot of damage and got a few assists... cool. Got a couple kills before dropping early, prolly got the score. Sucided into a ball of death with a light and move on to next mech, AFK'd of to the side, just swiped ERLL across every mech and called it a day.... NOPE, NOTHING, NADA. Sure you could get killed right away because someone has to die 1st and may not get your points, but you wouldn't have gotten them with current system anyways.

Participate, stick with match as long as possible, help teammates.... profit.

no the whole point is to spend more money..................... to master the mech.

Why?

Other than them starting with lower stats, there is no little difference.

Little because I remembered the auto-refill. >.<

Because it's a pain in the asteroids to put the non-MC versions into the 'mechs. Then you forget and run out, or better yet screw up and turn auto-refill on for an MC consumable... I ended up simply not using most of my MC consumables last time - I wish I could sell them for Cbills.

It should be pretty easy to add a piece of code that prevents people from getting points in matches where they fail to reconnect by the time the match ends or before they die.

So, didn't the polygon camo come with this bunch of mechs if you ordered them early?

What is with PGI creating challenges that have less of a benefit for players that have invested money in the game? Don't get me wrong, the content on offer is great and it will be good to make some extra c-bills selling this mech, but give us investors something to really fight for - make the camo a choice - don't restrict it to one all your invested players already have... ..same for the Sherman on the cataphract champion...

I suppose I could do with a new medallion for my clan mechs..

So true.
The only thing money can't buy is the X on the challenges page in your profile. Just a few more stains on your resumée for stuff you could just buy normally. As if the prizes were something exclusive and un-repeatable, just like Operation 24... oh wait!

I miss the time these events would extend up till Tuesday. That would give some opportunity to those that cannot used the weekend.

Incoming!!!

This ^

Bad decision in my opinion too. Polygon camo and the cockpit item were items that were bundled with the overly expensive clan packages. Now, they are handed for free, punishing the recent buyers (that would prefer something else) and giving benefit to non-buyers. It doesn't make sense...
