MW4 models are just mostly bad......like that Summoner in your post....just hideous.

Yes, their designs all looked like giant plastic toys. BUT, the post you quoted was specifically talking about how they were animated, not how they were designed. In comparison to a large swath of the 'Mechs in MWO, they were very well-animated in MW4.

Never was a fan of the MW4 animations. None of the 'Mechs felt like they had mass, compared to MW3. Seeing them run around felt like I was watching a bunch of guys jogging around wearing boxes.

I agree, but even MW4 had better animations than some of the stuff in MWO. Who knew Dairy Whales were so bouncy?

I feel like theres a good amount of weight to these. Overall the animation is just more fluid and believable

I think all the assaults' movements make them feel too light and bouncy, with the exception of the Atlas.

Better than a lot of the assaults in MWO, sure.
Good amount of weight? Believable? Nah.

Think about it dude. Picture an ACTUAL HUMAN BEING sitting inside that cockpit. He's moving about two meters side-to-side with each step, in the span of about half a second. That cockpit would be impossible to see out of for all the puke covering the plexiglass... MW3 was vastly superior in this regard(and pretty much all other regards as well).

But, on the plus side? At least the footpads aren't sliding over the terrain the way the Dire's do at top speed in MWO.

It was also 15 years ago when they created those, and look at how much better the profile of the MW4 Summoner is. Just how high the arms were compared to what we have now makes me nostalgic.

Comparing the looks of mechs between MWO and MW4 is like comparing MW4 and MW2 models, rather silly.

They were indeed, Nova cat and the Thanatos felt like flying.
But the animations and overall articulation of the legs and the feet was pretty sublime

That's the same logic that made mechs like the Quickdraw and the majority of mediums close to the size of mechs that are a weight class heavier than themselves...

I dont understand todays generation. In my day, we dealt with games as they came, we didnt whine to developers because "its not right cause I think differntly than you so CHANGE IT". Get over yourselves. Seriously. ;)

yes... i lived through those days as well...
In those days there was a game with a certain price...you could buy it and it was yours..no more paying... and it was as it was. nothing was going to be degraded or changed... everything was there from the beginning.

Really? I've been playing online games since before the turn of the century, and players being upset with game balance is not a new phenomenon.

More to the point, it's not a bad thing. If your players don't give feedback, then they probably don't care about the game at all. As is, it at least functions as a metric to help create a balanced game.

The Resistance 'mechs seem kind of stiff to me, in the upper torsos/arms. Moreso the Enforcer and Zeus, at least so far.

To my memory the Grasshopper IS taller than a Cataphract but was also much leaner.

Id say it was on teh cusp of being head and shoulders taller but I am willing to split that hair.

I love the art in this game but the scale sometimes is... questionable. :unsure:
