EDIT: We're not demanding every new mech be better than the last one, we just don't want our new mech to be gimped out of the gate by an obviously ridiculous scaling problem.

I'd say the Zeus needs to be a tidge taller.

If the scaling is done by a volume per tonnage calculation, and assuming similar density across chassis, then any mech with slim legs and waist will automatically be very tall.

And since the Grasshopper is actually very slim in the legs and waist area, the models total volume looks similar to the Cataphract to me.

The shoulders being wide doesn't actually add much volume to the model since that width is mostly the attachments, the torso is still slim.

Whatever the calculation is, lights are evidently treated very differently since they have been made so incredibly small in MWO. They look like they are several times denser than all other mechs or they would have to be much larger.

Now, now - the Quickdraw is "60-ton size," which means larger than 70+ tons for some insane reason.

Yeah, PGI cannot scale mechs correctly. Everything past the original 4 has been hit or miss, mostly at random.

The fun part is everyone arguing about scale, when all the mechs have differing volume and mass among the stripped chassis as has been mentioned.

Many of your scaling arguments fall apart, and this thread as well because subjective judgments are being based on hight and width, discounting depth.

By many of the arguments being put forth a the King Crab should be near the same hight as an Atlas because they are both 100 tons.

But if you scaled a King Crab that way, it's volume and mass would increase making it WELL over 100 tons...

So really what it boils down to, is what people subjectivly like the looks of.

He said TT specifically, there's TT mini's.

TT connotation typically makes it a synonym to lore.
But let's stop before a Semantics™ Argument arises.

Ok, put up a list of lore hights, then we can compare those to the material properties (specfically densities per volume) of material used to build mechs to determine if they are feasable, and then compare that to the PGI renditions.

I'm not justifying lore heights, nor do I know what they are-- just clarifying. I'm not even sure where all of the heights are listed!

Sorry, I do not own Orion, and there is no trial Orion this week, therefore I cannot give you an accurate picture. If you have an Orion, please take a screenshot of it and post it here so I can make the comparison picture for you.

The Zeus is not really smaller than the Victor or Quickdraw except in the arms.

The Grasshopper got hit by Trebuchet/Quickdraw disease though I missed the higher weapon mounts. They still do not make up for the size.
