Played for days in that place back in 1996 with a friend (both of us are from Australia) and had my Pilot Card in my wallet up until a few days ago (such a geek - my pilot name was PhelanKell).

Also played in the set in Australia (somewhere in Melbourne but can't remember where). A bunch of friends were on a road trip and so we all went and played for a couple of hours!

Played them in Australia about 15 years ago. Both the oldschool brown wooden crates, and then the newer, funkier Tesla pods.

Shame Intencity (the arcade franchise that hosted the VWE pods) went **** over *** and folded.

The Tesla Pods were quite an experience to say the least. For the two years I lived in Florida when I was a teenager I got to play the version of the game that came before Firestorm, with the coolant loops and everything. (And yes, I played with full access to energy allocation, coolant loops, etc.)

My very first time playing it was kind of unsettling watching the MFDs go fuzzy when getting hit badly, since it was done by desynching the CRTs. (And since the middle MFD is mounted portrait style it was even crazier when that one went wonky.)

I played a grand total of 26 missions before I moved back to Canada... unfortunately, the staff didn't have any pins on hand to commemorate the event when I broke that total and thus the only way I can prove I played all those missions is the fact that I kept (and still have) every single score sheet! ;D

The traveling ones you see at cons are from Houston, the Mekcorps. Still kicking around with Battletech Firestorm and lots of mektek goodies added.

I had a blast last time I got to jump in one.

Sort of.

Most of the events down South (DragonCon, MechCon, OniCon, etc.) are Houston based MechCorps cockpits (Although I think VG Corps out of Dallas still does an event here and there).

Up here in the Northern sector the cockpits are generally from VGL Underground in Kalamazoo, MI (GenCon, ACEN, Origins, YoumaCon, Chicago ComiCon) or from the Fallout Shelter Arcade up in the Twin Cities.

Hello Folks

My Friends and I used to go to the one in Toronto Ontario Canada which was in the Basement of the CN Tower Complex. We usually spend a few hours there and then went on to whatever we had planned to do in the City (most likely a Scifi or Gaming event or convention). It was a Great Time and I wish they hadn't closed it down. I always wondered if there was ever another one opened in the city. Does anyone here know??? Note, if there was one here in the Buffalo NY Area, I would be living there NOW!!

We do! Went to both A-Kon and AnimeFEST this year. Looking for more opportunities as well.

*sniff* Prop always forgets our trips, and then he busted his website so he couldn't post our updated news releases. *sniff* :) :D

I see it's already been mentioned, but if you're in the Seattle area the Airlock has a fully-functional set of them. And is in operation. It's good times, but my schedule prevents me from getting there very often unfortunately.

I really enjoyed the experience, but at $15/10min, it was more expensive than a cocaine habit to maintain.

Used to play at Dave n Busters in Cincinnati. On the slower nights, we could talk them into loading up other Mechs that weren't normally in the game. Turning up some of the settings. It was great. I loved how you could change the secondary screens in the pods. Have your info where you wanted it.

Dallas pods have a $25 Boomtime that starts from 6pm to midnight.
$20 if you are a veteran (100 missions).
So for that amount I get half a day of blowing stuff up!

Edit:
Oh hey Gravitas! Wow we seem to be collecting the VG Corps folks right out of the woodwork.

There was a Virtual Reality show at the expo in Boston around 1990ish VWE was there with a set of the box style pods. I had the distinct privilege of playing several games before I was told to stick around after one particular match (I couldn't resist activating advanced mode and reconfiguring my weapon positions) I was asked if I had ever played before, which i hadn't but was familiar with the lore etc etc... got offered a job on the spot, took a part time job while the site was up and running, had an offer to go open a new permanant site that was going up and I flubbed on it. I always regretted not taking the leap of faith, would have been a blast.

Still have great memories from the show in Boston though with the regular MIT crew that would show up ever chance they had.

Wolfpack, Knight of the Inner Sphere, Holy Order of the Loki V (if you crazy people are still out there)

Dave and busters, san jose, ca. Was probably the cheapest thing to do there per minute of game time.

Never got the chance to play but I'm definitely looking into building my own "pod" for this game when it comes out. Hopefully the game supports multiple monitors properly. 3 monitors, a good flight stick, throttle, pedals, maybe some gauges, and a Recaro seat should do nicely.
