Well, until more clan quirks start rolling out including buffs (like ballistic buffs and the such), and then people will go back.

Clan quiks coming soon, indeed.
Because sub par clan highly need them.

So where is my "opt out option?" Just like the IS I want my opt out option, where is my Clan standard engine??

Why on earth would anyone want to opt out of a Clan XL engine? They are essentially low-ton Standard engines as they are now.

Yes, but you can take a standard engine and not suffer any penalties for losing a side torso in exchange for less speed. Clans have no choice. They must take an XL engine. Creating an entire faction that dies to losing a side torso no matter what would be silly.

Yes, and of course, the IS with a STD engine packs what...HALF the firepower? Woohoo man, what a tradeoff. When the Clans get all the firepower, the speed and can still almost zombie.

Oh, goody.

Now that Timberwolf that's underfire from TWELVE ENEMY MECHS will die in two more seconds instead of three.

12v12 buries nuance. Bring back 8v8.

-sigh- this just makes my choice to go IS, that much easier...

I've got:

up in all my non (I) versions now...

Now off to buy some IS mechs! (once I get some c-bills from the sales off my lightly used mech lot...)

If it came with the option to change size.

An isXL350 Gargles with Endo would be a bit more useful, since the CT is a bit larger than the STs and the weapons would be far more useful.

Lights are physically too large to compete with the IS ones, but the Mist Lynx could move 160 with some meaningful firepower, or ECM (it's a choice).

Some would be vastly improved, even without the Clam XL.

i vote give IS their 3052 LFE, the only 3 that we know already existed,
150LFE, 250LFE, and 350LFE, so they can have options and stop complaining,
also ive done some research all 3 of these did exist in 3052 as Experimental Tech,

Well, only the optimized ones get all the firepower and keep the speed, but that is just more reason to release some of the omnimech restrictions more so than the Clan XLs.

I would gladly trade more Clan XL nerfs if it meant I could get my Adder to go at least as fast as the Raven 2X or outfit my Ice Ferret with a 325 XL instead of the super large 360.

Finally the poor Firestarters will be free from the domination of the Adder / Kit Fox overlords! Not to mention the Mist Lynx, which really needed this nerf, lest MWO be regarded as P2W.

Hmm... It might be interesting to add LFE if there are only 3 maybe 4 available to pick from. That way it wouldn't be the default option for everyone to take one in every mech, but it would add some interesting options for a handful of mechs making it more unique(hopefully). Of course the second LFE hit the shelves some of those Omni restrictions are going to need to be loosened.

yes because borked hitbox/hit reg on one mech should be a deciding factor on all things.

Well, if this goes through i'm going to have a good laugh. Basically means I'm further punished for playing anything with bad ST hitboxes (I really want to like the Warhawk but this will assure me to never touch it again) , and u couldn't pay me enough MC to suffer through clan lights now (Until Arctic Cheetah of course).

I feel the increased Heat and speed increase for losing a ST is necessary (Clan lights should get to avoid this) although to what degree is beyond me, but the 90% Speed/Heat penalty for 10 seconds for "Engine Calibration".... GTFO.

Oh and an afterthought: If they add something like this in BEFORE the quirks of the already pathetic Clan mechs AND at least one set of adjustments to get said quirks right, I will be anything but happy.

I don't doubt that you could build a better clan mech if you had the option to downgrade/upgrade engine sizes, but I think most of us would agree that would be pretty unfair all things considered. I interpreted what the guy was requesting was an engine swap of identical size, in which case you would be crazy to swap. It's a huge tonnage difference.

I know I wanted this nerf, but that was only AFTER the worst of the Clan Mechs were buffed in some way (all Clan Lights, Nova, Ice Ferret, Gargles).

Why couldn't the nerf be applied to the size of the engine or something along those lines?

Destruction of the side torso containing a large engine would get a more crippling speed reduction. This would currently hurt the Gargles and the Ice Ferret the most at this point, but you could probably quirk that since they are already bad for their size/tonnage.

Go figure.... buffing bad Clan Mechs properly is not in the cards.

Ah good, I'm sure this won't have the opposite effect at all and cause people to say to hell with trying to use the clan lights, nova, SideTorso Dog and push them into the stormcrow, wolf and Giga Wolf.

Getting tired of these changes..
I've already seen many players leaving clan for IS because of all these balance changes.. there won't be anyone to fight against eventually.

Still better than dying.

Why not just give IS the LFEs that are right around the corner and leave clan mechs the f*ck alone??? Balance is basically parity now, with both sides having outliers, the IS has more, but who is counting?? Now, the IS can continue to run their mechs that require CT destruction only and clans will be permascrewed once they lose a ST at all.

Oh, and IS have quirks from hell, and STD engines, and unlocked internals, and cooler weapons, and removable JJs, and an ECM assault, and 10 more tons in CW....

So... the Raven and Jenners are pretty evenly matched with the Adder? Is that your point? That the Clan mechs are fine, they just seem a bit underpowered because the Firestarter is borked?

If so, I have news for you.

Moving the target now? You must be hanging around Ultimatum, lol. Your post simply was pinning all the woes of the world on Firestarters. I simply pointed out that the argument was a tad fallacious.

I think what he's saying, is that the issues revolving around hit reg on Firestarters and Spiders, should be used as a tool for balance as a whole in the light class, but should be something that is corrected, then take balance into account.

As it stands, my Adders generally lose to Spiders and Firestarters... Hell my Locusts can usually beat a clan light...

False, MWO simply hasn't implemented a STD engine Clan mech yet.

KingFisher and Stooping Hawk are both available...but are avoided for obvious reasons.
I was talking about the current state of affairs ;)

Time for a clan 3 refund , screw this noise paying for a mech waiting 2-3 months and in the meantime its NERFed to hell.

IS is way overpowered and getting worse and worse.

Yep. I play primarily IS mechs, but own Wave 2 and 3, and have Kitfoxes, Dires and Stormcrows as well. There is no way that 10 second "recalibrate" would be taken seriously by anyone who wants balance between the sides.

I don't know---look at that bullshit when you lose a leg and can't move if someone is so much as peppering you with MGs or AC/2s.
