ROFLMO on the complaints for Clan Light mechs.

Lets put this in perspective:
-IS Light mechs almost exclusively run XL's and when they lose a torso they explode.
-Clan Light mechs that lose a torso lose 20% of heat sinks & speed.

Gee, I wonder what faction would rather trade XL engine losses?

I wonder how the survivability of an IS light would be if they were going 106 kph instead of the 140 kph lag shield speed they have?

That was a twitter user's suggestion... and a terribly bad one. Please ignore it.

A shining example of how responsible adults come together to discuss things in a friendly and polite manner, and find novel solutions to their problems. Thank you sir for being polite and helpful - it gives a man hope in these times.

Keep in mind that clan mechs don't have a choice to tank up with a regular engine, or change the size of the engine. Having no choice in engine means that it can't be a game over problem with the mechs.

Penalties for losing a side torso aren't bad though. Just as long as they aren't extreme.

yup it was, what Russ really said is below!

Quote

@russ_bullock Or Betty spams you with "Recalibrating Engine" for 10 seconds while you enjoy a 90% reduction in speed and heat dissipation.

Russ Bullock@russ_bullock 1h1 hour ago
@Mogney_SRPH Yes reduction in speed I think is sounding very fair now that we see the full impact of the heat increase from ST destruction.

Russ Bullock@russ_bullock 1h1 hour ago
@Dr_DXZ @Mogney_SRPH likely in the 20% range just like the 20% heat dissipation loss - 20% of engine crit slots missing etc.

im just worried as it is right now, when a Mech loses a ST(IS & Clan)
they lose 50% of their weapons and 50% of their HSs, but Clan also lose 20% more DHS, or 70% HS loss total,
with this 20% Speed Drop it may help bring down some of the Over Achievers SCR/TBR but,...
it may also hurt allot of the under performers, ADR KFX IFR & NVA,

the Nova with ST loss would go a staggering 68kph,...
so if your in a Nova and lose you ST your dead,

Then let's fix lagshields.

Maybe someday, the Nova will get the Summoner's +5% Speed Tweak in the future.

For now, Sword and Board on the Nova is a less desirable option. Thanks PGI!

Yep. I play primarily IS mechs, but own Wave 2 and 3, and have Kitfoxes, Dires and Stormcrows as well. There is no way that 10 second "recalibrate" would be taken seriously by anyone who wants balance between the sides.

Hmm, so the weaker clan mechs are getting hit by an even harder nerf, while the trinity still won't see much on an effect from this......

Dual Gauss Dire Wolves will be hurt by this. Focus a ST and kill the Gauss Rifle (which explodes very easily) and now they're moving ridiculously slow.

I have a folder on my browser specifically for storing forum weaponry. I have probably hundreds by now, of who knows how many different categories... It's all so that I can win the internet arm's race.

I'm not a clan mech driver, but I could see this a bit brutal for some of their slower lights. There should be SOME clan mechs that have the effects of side torso destruction quirked away...some mechs.

as opposed to the IS mechs that just die in the same situation?

Please. If you are good playing driving a proper Direwolf... if the mech you stare at doesn't die ASAP, you're doing it wrong.

Speed is a non-issue if you position yourself well.

I'm all for it. I figure things like that make sense, and help the balance, which needs to be addressed in some way other than "Quirks".

I have a lot of trouble sharing tears for clans. When an XL in the torso pops on an IS mech we die. So clans will go a little slower, at least they're not dead.

Actually when it comes to light mechs Speed=Life so they are in fact DEAD once they loose the ST. So i might as well be dead and honestly would rather be.

They need to just make it the same across the board...why make me suffer and get shot to **** for 3 seconds? To pad some stats? Just kill me and my OP Clan XL Mech.

Just make it vanilla and both sides die on ST loose so we cant stop this already.

Sure,. except when facing lighter faster foes, it's often about when you have to reposition yourself. Should make nibbling on DWs with my Hunchy all the more lovely.

The Hero Shield is probably overall more versatile than the Flame Shield, but it's not as specialized for that one particular forum battlefield.
