I, for one, do think it's a good idea to further penalize Clan Mechs for a side-torso loss.

Losing a side torso with a Clan XL means your engine just lost 2/3 of its health points. Receiving 66% engine damage should have hefty consequences.

The only thing it means is you generate the heat of firing 2 IS medium lasers every 10 seconds as far as tabletop rules go. It is absurd that they are inventing penalties for clan mechs while giving IS mechs super powers like the ability to carry 2 tons of free armor or 20 free heat sinks.

so all of these -I should better get endo and ff options are not valid because that would mean that Dwolves, Stormcrows, Hellbringers and Dwolves would get this. hey do not need to be able to free up extra tonnage or crit slots for heatsinks.

Honestly there are really bad mechs and variants on both sides of the fence. I could care less about lore so I care less about trash mechs and play what works well from both sides. Making clan engine loss have more of and effect is really only common sense. I higher level play you do not see the trash mechs from either side and I do not think this change will bring the IS non comp XL builds up past their clan counterparts, but it will help bring down the trinity tier 1 down a bit.

Please dont use the worst mechs from either side as ways to pad arguments for or against the factions. Friends dont let friends drive bad mechs with worse builds.

If there is something absurd than to stick with the "orignial" clan Tech from 1989 and to repeat the mistakes instead of making stuff right.

Stormcrow runs out of tonnage before it runs out of crit slots for heatsinks. Already has Endo/Ferro.

Timberwolf runs out of tonnage before it runs out of crit slots for heatsinks. Already has Endo/Ferro.

Hellbringer would get better cooling. Endo/Ferro would make a Hellbringer slightly better.

Dire Wolf runs out of crit slots without Endo/Ferro. Endo/Ferro would make a Dire Wolf worse.

Endo/Ferro would make all other clan mechs less awful.

Nice try though.

Wouldn't that make clans better?

I remember the engines being lighter and extra hardpoints...

For eg most timberwolf will have an E in the CT extra OR another E in the ST (opposite from the current E if it's there)

for eg.... would be nice though.

No not really.
I could live with MK I Omnis.... making almost all Clan Mechs better, but the good (StormCrow, Dire, TImberwolf may got worse)

But i was talking about doing the Clan Stuff right.
PGI could not do anything about the "weight" and "crits" - but they shouldn't have stayed at the values

keep minimal range for LRM and make them fly in a low angle all the time - for more problems when using indirect fire

they have made some good descisions (UAC 10 and UAC20 with burst fire) - and they have made some bad (UAC 2 and UAC 5 with burst fire)

Please sir... can I have some more?

(I want to see a direwolf whining to the fact the dragon 1N basicly has the same firepower without overheating very fast. Then dragon complains that the direwolf has 6 of those UAC5/ AC5/ LBX 5's while he only has 2.)
(Or something about one of the under-par mechs like the kitfox, adder, nova, complaining to one of the T5 mechs of the Inner sphere... for eg adder quirks verse panther quirks)

This is meant to be a joke maybe? King Crab, Awesome? XL and safe/viable? Maybe he means some OTHER Mechs and just called them by the wrong name?

I have never died a single time in a King Crab from ST taken out on the King crab with an XL and when I have a standard engine I still never get my side torso take out.

Awesome has smaller side torsos to the Centre torso and also the fact it's mainly a range mech having good heat eff, firepower, and range weapons and getting into position is better then a 30 kph wounder or a barely armed awesome.

I do have to admit. Awesome is one of the mehcs I do not have but planning to get. But I got friends with it and I've been looking at it for the past 2 years and then some.

I don't think I've ever had a match where my ST wasn't ripped to shreds in a Krabby Patty or (un)Awesome

So the Dire WHale, already slower then a boat and un able to spin or avoid damage, or otherwise avoid ST/CT Damage is going to lose its ST then be even slower? Making it even more a joke to drive?

And that Warhawk, its a walking ST hit......so much for being a "fast assault".

Can we get 30% CERPPC velocity and 15/15 CERPPC PPFLD if that change comes? Then the Warhawk can be te long range dealer of death its supposed ot be. high velocity, punchy, hot CERPPC....kinda like a assault cavalry mech, its everywhere and no where at the same time =D You wont see it coming until your head flies off

hmmm... Do you have large weapons on your ST's and if so, do you "hill hump" or use shallow inclines or areas as cover?
The ST's are the only parts most people can hit on the king crab in this situation and thus causes focus fire there...

Also this could be a problem with me in the high elo's.

Or the way I play the king crab. Do you happen to be an LRM boater in the king crab? that huge 'tumor' on your side torso does get attention...

About the awesome. It's one of the 3 (+4 resistance) mechs I do not have atm. But I will eventually get it. I will hold my mouth on for now. But from other peoples actions in it. I've always saw the awesome as a good XL mech. Like an assault catapult.

Awesome either runs PPCs or LLs solely, and my King Crab runs dual guass or quad AC5,

I've had a few rounds where my ST's weren't the first piece the enemy took off, but not many, and gods help you if you use Gauss, cause the arms ARE a big target that's impossible to miss, XL + Gauss on an IS Mech is just silly. Then again, so is putting an XL in an Awesome, so...there you go.

Love the cartoons man, please keep them coming!

Pre hitbox fix, yes.

Presently, the STs are a large vertical strip. What used to be CT is now ST, and the CT is now comparatively small.

You DO NOT XL an Awesome anymore.
