FFS, PGI.

Stop destroying the beautiful 'mechs with your ridiculously bad lego-style "dynamic geometry"!

I just had a look at my Firebrand (2xAC/5, 2xLL) - it looks like an AMPUTEE!

LOOK AT IT!

Bloody hell, this was the concept art:

BIG, LONG BARRELS. Not tiny, tiny nubs and sticks.

NOT. TINY. NUBS. AND. STICKS!

I just literally was laughing out loud. Like really, this is just ridiculous....

Art assets can only be so large. They mentioned it a long time ago. The more they add the slower the game. Each Asset can only be so big for the game and I think they are adding in a special weapons only asset that will be for ALL weapons. That would allow for all mechs to have the same weapon look for each inner sphere and Clan. That will actually be very logical and allow the game to use fewer assets and actual mech textures to be more complex since they offload all weapon textures to a central asset.

I love the idea. When they are done they can then change ALL assets that do not work. AKA ac5 needs to look bigger, change one asset for actual model and one for texture band all mechs now have the new art work. If they are doing this let them finish. Keep the ugly and when they have them all in one place then make sure they know what needs fixing.

If on the other hand this is not what they are doing then WTF! One they are stupid, and two WTF!

Firebrand with PPCS and AC5s on the arms. PPCS look fine. They really neutered the ACs though.

(I have no idea how to make the picture show. Sorry folks)

How's the A without Missiles?

Looks like any regular Jager. At least the giant empty boxes are no longer there.

If what Sundervine says is true, then maybe the AC's are being made smaller so that they are not huge on Light mechs?

I do wish that the lasers had unique geometry for each class. Why does a .5ton small laser look the same as a large pulse laser that is 14x heavier???

The loadouts on the Phracts look okay, but damn, why did you do this to my Jaegers? Seriously, who thought these stumpy little barrels looked good and gave them the okay? They look ridiculous! This is just like the Catapult 'fix'. It looked good, and you had to go and f**k it up! Fix these abominations FFS!

Yeah, no, that's not how it works in MWO. Whoever told you that is blowing smoke. look at the same guns across different mechs and you will see they are ALL scaled differently even if they share the same "model".

IE: An AC-5 on raven looks like the same model but muuuch smaller than an ac-5 on a battlemaster.

And the thing that kills performance isn't geometry, it's texture assets, particles, and post-processing. their textures are very low-res, so any claims that they're doing this to "increase performance" are just laughable. They want better performance they need to look at their hideously bad particle system, just the "smoke" from your mech running hot will cut your frames in half if you back through it.

I would like to know who in PGI's art department has this fetish for little bitty guns?
So sad that they are slowly destroying the look of all the old mechs, one at a time!

I only have the Cataphract 3D to compare, but I'm really happy with what they did with it. It looks pretty damn spiffy with everything save the Machine Gun. Having said that, the Firebrand and other JagerMechs look horrible based on the posted pics. That Mech was meant to have long barrels on the weapon systems, not tiny nubs... so that is a real shame. Kind of makes you wish PGI was a little more informative when changes like this come out. I sure hope the Jager changes get a rework.

AC/2 and AC/5 are terribly tiny. If you compare pre to post quad AC/5 Jagermech, you either start laughing or crying.

That said, it seems they slightly increased CPLT K2 PPCs, or am I getting confused by all the tinyness on the other mechs?

someone needs to be fired. there was nothing wrong with the jager arms. they already changed when you changed canons. now it has iddy biddy baby arms. STOP ALL GEOMETRY CHANGES. NOTHING GOOD HAS EVER COME OF IT.

So mist lynx skips leg day and the Jagers skip arm day...

PGI needs to get a more rounded workout in for these mechs.

But on the really real....these are hideous changes.

Poor Kit-fox and Adder need to go on a damn diet. Maybe "Misty" and "Jagger" can become their personal trainers?

Jesus F christ, what a friggin mess.

I think when you typed in the sizes you put the decimal point in the wrong place PGI..

stop buying cheap contact lenses, and hire out the hubble telescope, you might scale size properly then, though if you made the mechs the correct size in the first place, your AC5 wouldn't look like a nats manhood

I totally understand the need to use global assets...but I'd rather they make the weapons globally larger, than smaller. A huge gun on a tiny mech looks better than a tiny gun on a huge mech, IMO.

Yeah... I normally don't chime in on these things, but this is turning into a mess. It was bad enough what they did to the Centurion. PGI, please re-think the direction this is going and tweak specific mechs as necessary (Jager arm barrels, for example).
