2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?
3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
1. Big stompy robots. Grew up with Battletech on the table top and that passion morphed into MechWarrior computer game versions. The history in the game and lore really pull me in, with the novels being a prime contributor to that.
2. I indeed take regular breaks. I have other interests outside MechWarrior: Online, such as World of Tanks, War Thunder and soon, World of Warships. I expect the game to get better on a regular basis, which has not always been the case, but I can see the strides that PGI have made since their buyout of IGP, so things look encouraging. I'd be here a lot more if PGI was more aggressive in fixing long standing problems, such as terrain hit box issues, etc. Encountering things like that drain my will to play, especially when a messed up hit box on a huge pillar on HPG Manifold goes a long time without being corrected, compared to being able to shoot through railroad car wheels in a game like World of Tanks. That leaves me the impression that PGI is more concerned with getting content out over getting it out done right.
3. Where to begin? I think a number of things could be changed or improved with this game. First and foremost, they are very resistant to the notion that they may have made a mistake or two at the beginning of this endeavour. Being unable to recognize and admit a mistake goes nowhere when it comes to fixing a problem.
Russ has got to start posting here again and stop with his love affair with Twitter. There are posts on this forum saying stuff like, "Russ wants to know..." or "Russ is looking for...". You know what... if you want this information, how about coming here and asking yourself, Russ?
Beyond that, ECM needs a rework. The rate of fire of some weapons could be slowed down, the heat system needs to be looked at. I'd also like to see some more constraints place on us in the Mech Lab. This game has no sense of itself or the lore I mentioned in the first question. When players start stripping out established stock builds and replace them with massed weapons of the same type, the game loses some flavour. Six ER Large Laser Stalkers, Six Large Pulse Laser Banshees, eight Medium Pulse Laser Grasshoppers. These Mech designs should be telling the game designer that they have failed somehow.
