1. Big stompy robots. Grew up with Battletech on the table top and that passion morphed into MechWarrior computer game versions. The history in the game and lore really pull me in, with the novels being a prime contributor to that.

2. I indeed take regular breaks. I have other interests outside MechWarrior: Online, such as World of Tanks, War Thunder and soon, World of Warships. I expect the game to get better on a regular basis, which has not always been the case, but I can see the strides that PGI have made since their buyout of IGP, so things look encouraging. I'd be here a lot more if PGI was more aggressive in fixing long standing problems, such as terrain hit box issues, etc. Encountering things like that drain my will to play, especially when a messed up hit box on a huge pillar on HPG Manifold goes a long time without being corrected, compared to being able to shoot through railroad car wheels in a game like World of Tanks. That leaves me the impression that PGI is more concerned with getting content out over getting it out done right.

3. Where to begin? I think a number of things could be changed or improved with this game. First and foremost, they are very resistant to the notion that they may have made a mistake or two at the beginning of this endeavour. Being unable to recognize and admit a mistake goes nowhere when it comes to fixing a problem.

Russ has got to start posting here again and stop with his love affair with Twitter. There are posts on this forum saying stuff like, "Russ wants to know..." or "Russ is looking for...". You know what... if you want this information, how about coming here and asking yourself, Russ?

Beyond that, ECM needs a rework. The rate of fire of some weapons could be slowed down, the heat system needs to be looked at. I'd also like to see some more constraints place on us in the Mech Lab. This game has no sense of itself or the lore I mentioned in the first question. When players start stripping out established stock builds and replace them with massed weapons of the same type, the game loses some flavour. Six ER Large Laser Stalkers, Six Large Pulse Laser Banshees, eight Medium Pulse Laser Grasshoppers. These Mech designs should be telling the game designer that they have failed somehow.

1) I love the Franchise, The art PGI has done the way they've done it sure it isn't perfect but no game is.

2) I take breaks when my A.D.D. of games kicks in and I buy a different game. and I just wanna either get it outta the way or just get hooked, but I always seem to return to MWO maybe because I just have to grind something else I been putting off for awhile or had a bad streak of me rushing in to die. so I need a break to catch my breath and think and stop playing stupid.

3) would like PGI to finally fix LBX ammo switch.maybe add the other mechs i have been waiting for. crossing fingers maybe a solo mode in case the game ever goes under I can keep playing the mechs I have against the AI or against tanks maybe a Wave mode of Mechs against waves of tanks and choppers . or just against Wave of AI. I know we can call it "Garrison Mode" using the maps will bases or the cw maps pits a team of mechs vs Waves of Tanks artillery and anything else they think is possible to create for ai enemy . and they get harder and harder as the wave gets higher.

1. Why do you still play this game?
Because "giant-stompy robots" and because of the Kell Hounds. The teamwork when dropping with friends and the camaraderie is a great feeling.

2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?
No...I don't play EVERY day...I let other things eat up my time...but I've never decided to "set it aside and come back to it later." No reason too...it's never gotten THAT bad.

3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
Greater variety in gameplay and match size. I'm really looking to that 4v4 that can have an effect on CW. Also...making planets WORTH taking over would be nice. Right now? It's just a tag. Meh.

1. Why do you still play this game?
Because I have played MW games since I was 8 and I love every aspect of Mech Combat. This game in particular has more customizeable features than ANY other game I have played or can think of. Thats why I like to run unique mechs.

2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?
Not usually but I did just get back from a 3 month break.

3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
Nothing, I like how everything has been done, and they make the needed changes as they go along, CW for example is much better than it was originally.
Also one of the reasons I like ths game is because certian things are obviously harder / worse than other mechs/weapons, which gives me an easy outlet to play and thrive on hardmode.

I've sunk a few hundred dollars into MWO, and I love Battletech... it's currently one of the few Battltech games that my new computers will run....

2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?

I took about 3 weeks off, due to RL stuff... other than that I try to play a couple of times a week.

Lots.... They could give Omni's an advantage of being Omni's over the factory level refits that IS battlemechs can go through between battles. They could rework ECM, to make it less of a "MUST HAVE!!!1111!!Oneoneone" item... But mostly, I think if they went a bit closer to Lore and TT with things like heat and weapon recycle times, we could do away with things like instant convergence and ghost heat....

1.it has to be one of my favorite team based PvP games. i love the franchise. and combat from a massive killing machine is fun. the game requires co-ordination and you can't rush their spawn and drop half of them like 'some' games *cough* COD *cough*

2.of course i take breaks, usually after a losing steak, then when i get back i can get some decent kills and c-bills until my next crash when i take a break for a while.

3. PvE, implement either some kind of survival or CO-OP campaign, even just a simple practice mode where instead of firing on targets you can choose which mech you want to practice on, an AI takes control of the mech and after one of you goes down either you end the practice or you restore your mech and try again

1. Mostly due to money spent. It's also still fun for all it's flaws. It's slowly and steadily improving.

2. Yes, just came off a 3-4 month break. I get burned out and decide to play something different. F2P makes it easy to come back to.

3. Lot's of things can be improved. Big focus for me personally would be better balancing of chassis. the quirk system was a good start but lots of mech chassis are left in the dust. still.

1. I love Battletech and this game really captures the feel of giant stompy robots. The mechs are gorgeous.

2. I take short breaks (a month at the most) to release some steam (seriously, I have so many games on steam that I have to dedicate time to play them too). I've slowed way down playing as well. I used to play 4+ hours daily but I'm down to about 1 hour daily.

3. I could think of a huge list of things PGI could do to improve MWO:
* Mechbay: saving/swapping layouts, better module/cockpit tracking, paper doll, first person mechbay functionality (like EVE and Star Citizen)
* Matchmaking: battle value system, ELO per mech
* Roll Warfare: leveling system per weight class with even one slot dedicated per mech that encourages more mech individuality and rolls
* Levels: destructible terrain, weather, fire/smoke
* GamePlay: player controlled tanks, battle armor, quad mechs
* More Game Modes - could have NPC controlled dropships, tanks, etc...
* And most of all - remove instant pinpoint convergence

I have enjoyed BT since a kid and when my older brother and his friends would play and included me with my 3 TT mechs! A daishi, blackhawk and Wasp. Seeing as how two of the three are here for me to play Nostalgia keeps me coming back more then anything! But the game at its core is very, very fun to me still.

I take breaks from this as much as anything else, if i am feeling it i play but i do enjoy other games and also has the ol' ball and chain to keep happy. With breaks I still play 2(at the lowest)-20 hours a week.

More IMMERSION! Give us a real story to play in the beginning, i want to feel like a true cadet that has made his way through the ranks and is now top of the mech food chain launching his own campaigns and enjoying CW. I want to truly feel like a mechwarrior that has fought tooth and nail to get where i am. A nice 1 player campaign mode would go a LOOOOOONG way in making people feel like they are truly a mechwarrior in this universe PGI has created.

Also, I think it would add some replay value for those of us who enjoy playing a great game from start to finish any time, even if we beat it 100 times over. (Legend of Zelda anyone?) As well as bringing in new people who may not be so into FPS's but find campaign and things of that nature right in their wheelhouse, A new UI is also sorley needed and i hope the new one coming down the pipe is a mixture of the two with some very needed new things....

-Module Monkeys (i dont want to search for them, no one else does either. Its just painful)
-CW Saved Decks (up to 3 maybe? Cold, Hot, and temperate decks or Brawl, Range, Scout)
-Favorite loadouts! (ability to save two loadouts on mechs if not able to have multiple saved decks. This way you could pick a setup via the mech selection page prior to dropping)

and lastly GROUPS!

PLEASE JUST MAKE ONE GROUP TYPE! I have never understood why you have multiples, its just mess and confusion you can drop into a regular match with a faction group but you cant see what mech you really have selected or observe the 3/3/3/3 rule?

Just make one group type, allow this group type to PICK A QUEUE and then give the guidelines and requirements of the mode to them at the bottom, highlighted or red it out much like the 4x3 appears now in group, so that a group may either select a CW deck for CW mode or please pick a single mech for PUBLIC DROPS. The two group type things just seems silly to me.

Cheers! And thanks for the ride so far!

1. Why do you still play this game?
1 I love Robot game.
2 It's the only Robot game that got that realistic-ish design and gameplay.
3 Mechlab! So much thing you can do on a single mech, this is trully amazing.
4 No other shooter provide the experience a MWO game gives you: no permanent shield regen, real strategic choice in game, slow gameplay, moving from a cover to another using sections of your body as shields to protect vital parts from enemy fire, one life per game, etc.
5 The difficulty. First (and it's already big) you learned how to build a Mech, then you learned how to move, then how to aim, then how to protect, then how to play. Then how to do all of this better, then how to do it well! :) Then you pick another chassis and start again.

2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?
Yes, like every other games. Just because i need some change from time to time. But MWO is the only game i keep coming back to. Honestly, MWO is by far the game i played the most longer in my whole life, and i played a lot and get bored usually quickly, especially these days as most AAA games being released are already from 4th to 7th iterations of an old game without any major improvement.

3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
1 Polishing: better Hitreg, less invisible walls, chassis tier 4 and 5 disappearing, standard ECM power lessened, good JJ again, less little thingy stopping easily from twenty up to a hundred tons of metal right where they stand.
2 Melee combat: this is one of the thing the license hold that is so cool, especially without that super-agile-Gundam feeling.
3 Some kind of E-Sport ladder. I try to play this game the best i can, and i would like to see my efforts being rewarded with a progression on a global ranking system (you know, like "hey i finaly made it up to this gold rank") rather than just seeing my W/L counter increase on both sides.
4 More Lore-based contents. This licence has a true history and lore, it's a shame people can play the game for years without learning any bits of all this great BT universe.
(almost forget: 5 a global chat in-game)

yes.

1. MWO is boring after four or 5 matches.

2. Too many better, cheaper and newer games.

This is not the mechwarrior game I wanted, TBH. I don't think there's anything I could suggest that woudn't be wholly unrealistic... except maybe lowering the prices.

1. Why do you still play this game?
Aside from Dark Souls series this is my favourite game I've played in a long long time. I basically bought my PC so I could play this game in all its glory :D I love PVP action and Mechwarrior so this game is perfect for me. It takes some skill to play well and is very satisfying but also difficult and unforgiving.
I'm not really a "gamer" by any stretch - 99.9% of games out there hold zero interest for me. In fact, this game and Dark Souls series are really the only games I play at all.

2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?
Some weeks I don't play much but usually I get at least a few hours in.

3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
The main thing I'dl ike to see improved is the UI... too many clicks to get around.

Keep putting out mechs! I feel clan/IS balance is OK.

Another thing I'd like to see, since they aren't gonna be putting out new PUG queue maps soon, is for every map in those queues to get a night or alternate weather mode. Doubles up the maps and mixes things up keeping them interesting.
I'd also like to see the Rakshasa mech added to the game :D

Also, it would be cool for components like the gyro or actuators to be critted, affecting your performance (IE, arm actuator gets busted, your arm can't move any more)

Overall though, very happy with this game and happy to see it improving all the time

I really don't know why I still play this game. Every drop feels like a waste of time as it's just timid players and campfests, for some reason the playerbase in this game have an aversion to using the movement keys. Can't wait for Heavy Gear to enter open beta then I can drop this game.

1) Actually now I don't, my latest active period in the game ended right with the introduction of nearly unplayable CW beta. Maybe it's just a break, and maybe I've had enough enough.
I was playing because yea, I've been an active BT fan since mid-90s and I have still had some shards of hope for this game to become something bigger than an arena shooter, very loosely based on BT. And first of all, because the core gameplay is pretty good, really.

2) I was taking about a half-year long breaks about 3 times since closed beta. Why? I was dissatisfied with the direction the game was following. I still am, only now I don't have any hope left. It's been nearly half a year since I took a break the last time, but I feel no urge to get back.

3) Can PGI improve? They've had millions of opportunities to listen to community, they have failed 99,9% of them.
Making a scape-goat of IGP made some people believe, but if you pay attention to the deeds, not words, nothing has changed that much. We still have the same arena-shooter, with the same #1 user-hostile UI in the world, and 90%+ of the new content is shop-related - it's mechs and items, mechs and items again. Unfortunately, current CW is not that thing we have been waiting and buying mechs for since beta. And never will be.

After all this time since closed beta we can definitely say this game will always stay the way it is now, more or less. It's not a bad thing, but it's not a kind of BT game I would like to play. I want a game where developers would really CARE for the BT universe. Would care for the sense of scale, proper mech sizes, adequate movement, jumping, usability of all kinds of weapons and close combat... Not to mention the atmosphere of the BT universe, the sense of a greater many-sided conflict.. well, you've got the idea.

2)My little aspie mind floats between this and Borderlands...is that taking a break?

3)A module and engine tracking menu to find out where the damnable things have gone. A universal all window chat would be awesome.

I started playing this game with Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries then moved on to Mechwarrior 3 and then got my first taste playing Mechwarrior 3 online in arena battles back when msn supported it online with their online games.

The Combat Zone was the name of the organization within the game and it was great. Joined a group named Clan Mongoose as CM_Razorbeast13 then when that group died I joined Mechanized Assault Recon.as MAR_Aeolus.

I had a blast as there were different modes that players adhered to and if they didn't, the mods would take appropriate actions to demote the offenders accordingly.

MSN removed the servers for MW3 so someone hacked the servers and made it so players for MW3 could play on the servers designed for Mechwarrior 4. MSN didn't like that so Mechwarrior Online was removed entirely from their servers and it was a dry spell up until I found this site.

I love the mechanics of the game and its design as architecture and machinery fascinate me and this game just combines the two so beautifully.

Yes, when I need to get sleep for work in the morning. When I need to eat (don't want to get food in my keyboard or get the keys/mouse sticky) and when the x2 bonuses are expired usually I'll log off to take care of things offline that I previously put off to do later.

I'd like for them to add the 'Target Nearest Enemy' function because pressing the TAB key doesn't work very well when there are a crapload of targets infront of you as their names and ranges get jumbled together.

Always liked Mechwarrior games. Was hyped for MW5 but settled for MWO.

Taking a break right now but still look at patch notes on the forums.

3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
More polish & love put into the game.
