just some examples of my last battles:

even worse, they did NOT fire at the targets in front of you. they did NOT cover a retreat, no, they BLOCK the way back into a possible safety.
the only way to go was forward with a massively damaged center while the rest got splattered from behind.
next battle again with a blackjack-1x in frozen city. me and a medium moving to flank, spotting half the enemy team. team support? yeah. everyone camped 2 squares not moving a single inch.
so running under fire back behind these campers with their assaults to a long flank through C3 and the other side. moving up between 2 buildings, trading fire. want to get back in cover.
impossible. a fkin GHR is blocking the only way out. i couldnt help myslef but unleash 3 lasers of rage into his torso and move on. he then sniped with medium pulses at 500m. 83 damage on the scoreboard on the end.
some more not so detailed things:
atlas non champion mech, you expect that he knows some stuff since it costs quite alot.
but no, he fired his ac20 and medium lasers at 600+ meters and barely moved. he was not alone with that in the team.
conquest on tourmaline: enemy assault lance capping one far out cap point, get spotted early by me. i see my team camping the middle cap point but not moving forward to engage the enemy 8 mechs. they camp. and camp. until the enemy assault lance wrecked them.
some people tried to get the team moving but no, 3 mechs listened from 8.
i could go on like that for 2 fkin pages and it would not stop.
PGI can do whatever they want, its the players that fail so hard and nothing else.
no fix can solve the fact that people dont want to understand such simple things.
so i put one question in here to discuss:
are the players the main problem of MW: O ?
i clearly say yes since alot of players rather cry about OP clantech (lolz...really..),
OP missiles (sigh)
or literally anything else than just look at themselves to become a better mech pilot?
i know myself that i got lots of improvement to do myself (especially on beeing a more friendly person instead of telling everyone directly to the face what i think of them) but at least i try to see things more on a neutral perspective and telling people what went wrong in the battle straight away so it might get better next battle.
If you want to Pug, you need to actually Pug. That means reading the flow of battle and adjusting your tactics and playstyle to best suit whatever the rest of the team is doing.
That usually means hyper aggressive flanking maneuvers are undesirable if the rest of your team is content to peek fight. It usually also means that advancing
at all when the rest of the team is entrenched is suicide. That Atlas pilot was probably just as frustrated as you were, knowing that he was well outside his optimal range, and knowing that if he advanced he would be likely be ventilated while the whole team watched with clinical detachment.
I think the issue is partly due to TTK being quite low. No-one wants to take risks, because risks lead to mistakes, and even one mistake in MWO can be immediately fatal.
