Excellent work with the Vultures!
Are there any bluprints of them, or any other Mechs?

This could be a great new hobby.

I dont really have any myself , i do have some basic templates from my original vulture build which were used for the base strauctures in this, but as a rule i sculpt by hand/eye trial and error.
However some of the other modelers have had excellent results using the cardboard mech designs, and transfering those to plastic card stock.

However, if you have a drawing of the parts with measure or size, and angles I would be more than happy to see them.

epic !!!!

the only thing that bothers me (AND ITS NOT YOUR FAULT ^_^) is the thin arms some robots have since they were made

i mean cmon for example Vulture and MadCat they have sticks unstead of real arms look at loki or thor 1 of them have some "flesh" on their arms if u know what i mean

i hope when they release them their arms wont be sticks

I always loved the cammo scheme on the locust on the cover of decision at thunder rift, so ive gone old school in two shades of grey with the first one.
This needs weathering now which i will do with crushed pastel chalks, then some yellow caution stripes and perhaps faction decals

Will need weathering too, carbon/soot on the missile ports and barrel tips etc

I really wish i could mass produce them for sale, but sadly i cant. Ive orderd my CGB decals for this one.
The best i can do is give permission to use the pics as wallpapers etc etc.
This one will look really great with CGB decals though

Yeah there is prob five bucks worth of balsa in this project of 4 mechs, but about 40 bucks worth of styrene, and about 10 bucks worth of superglue. I have a large collection of model paints, its rare i need to buy some , Though i will need to buy some for one scheme i have in mind.

I guess all up one of these would cost about 20 bucks in raw material to build, its the time thats the kicker. a single build is fine, but four at a time has taken months.

If i can do it, anyone can, This whole thread has been about showing how its done. Its not an elite skill.
I do come from a modeling background, my father had whole rooms filled with model aeroplanes, which was a great place to grow up, ive built out of the box kits for as long as i can remember, my house looks like a sci fi museum.
Scratch building is a little different to model kits, but the best advice is get the raw materiel and just start, have a go.
When i build a mech from scratch , i isolate the shapes that combine to form the whole. Its easy to look at the finished product and say where would i start ?, but the answer is small shapes.
Right down to the last layer of paint i'm second guessing myself, i dont build these with any real confidence, Its not an ingredient in the process.
Most hardware stores sell bags of mixed balsa wood, you dont need elite modeling skills, you dont need confidence in your ability, you just need to make a start.
There is a difference between mechs i made 20 years ago and the ones being painted today, but the only way to gain that technique is to start building.
Looking across at my collection, i can promise its worth having a go.
All its going to cost you is 20 bucks worth of balsa/styrene, and some lots of free time.

Comparing the simple shapes at the start of this thread with the pics im posting now, is the key.

Awesome look Focht.
But, I have to say this, it is a Maddog so you really really need one with a Smoke Jaguar theme 8)

I know it is a bit self serving to mention it, but at least I do have some canon to back it up with, no? =)

/Merf - Sexy mech models are sexy

Thanks Merf, Yeah ive been looking at CSJ specs

http://www.camospecs...tion.asp?ID=172

The plan was to have one in CSJ, since they designed it, and one in CGB since they favour its use as per the canon

The Alpha Galaxy scheme looks good
