Why no early adopter award for ala carte purchases?
$35 is more then the cheapest package and almost as much as the second package. Pretty sure that should count for early rewards. It counted for Clan Wave II
I call BS!

When I pre-purchased the Grasshopper ala carte from Resistance 1, I received the early adopter award. Why no early adopter award for ala carte purchases this time PGI?

Mauler ... 2 PPC, 2 LBX, 2 SRM packs ... brawler and medium range anyone?

The Mauler looks like it will be great for Pug matches but not CW (actually all of them look good for Pug but not CW).

Check Tukayyid stats, even the IS used a lot of Laser Vomit.
Given the big arms and Ballistic locations, I expect dual Gauss and AC40 Maulers to be tried.

I might get a Wolfhound just for early bonuses but no more, too much pure Energy and not vested much in them, maybe the Crab later with CB.

As for the Black Knight.....

Yeah, Mech Pack overload+Not quite as good art+very little development being seen= I cannot afford to and do not want to buy this latest pack. For 80 bucks it's a great deal, but I would be buying new chassis for the same game I played 8 months ago with few changes since then. I already have a bunch of mechs, a bunch of Heroes, a bunch of premium time, and this latest Mech pack comes with nothing extra for the loyal buyer like me.

PGI, It's Marketing 101: make every deal even juicier. The only juicy selection I see is the Mauler, and I can afford to grind to 3 90 ton IS mechs now.
There's less swag, less bonuses, and no new technology. The #1 motivator for Clan Wave 3 was the Assault and MASC. I still feel like I was burned by that deal because I'm getting less swag according to the purchase page while the Urbie recieved like $30 in surprise goodies. Maybe PGI will surprise us, but until then I have more than enough hanging items/colors/warhorns/mechs to tide me over until the end of time.

PGI, give me a good reason to buy this Mech pack. Throw in more Mechs for Resistance 1 buyers, or a free unique Hero, or something! And I still haven't received anything for being loyal with the Resistance/Clan Wave 3 purchases! Step up your game and fix/add some stuff while you're at it!

What the price isn't good enough compared to the clan wave 3 package?

I save 40 dollars on IS mechs that I'm going to have to upgrade with in-game money (when compared to Clan Wave 3), it's a worthy trade-off sure but this deal is the same as Resistance 1 (refer to my comment on Marketing 101). Once again, they need to sweeten the deal a little more, I'd rather have another chassis or 2 new heroes over 4 variants for each chassis. These Mechs don't come with new Tech (Wave 3 had MASC), the art is lousy, and the Light/Medium don't do anything that hasn't already been done.

EDIT: I'm willing to admit that the 2 biggest offenders imo are the art not being as great and the timing. We just forked over money for Resistance, then Urbies, then Clan Wave 3. You're going to come out with a new pack now and give us until the end of May to come up with the money? I don't think it's worth buying one of the packs without getting the bonuses with it as well, so to me it's become annoying and even offensive that these deadlines are so short. Day 1 bonuses and 30-day deadlines are ridiculous for a game that has a small following from working adults that don't always have the most disposable of incomes.
Not to mention that these packs reek of cash cow to newbies...

...actually.. it's pretty close to spot on. You just probably thought it's supposed to look like the dog head they used in the Battletech Cartoon.

For everyone here is a quick overview of free tonnage and crits for the mechs (as I did for the clan mechs before).

Resistence2 mech overview

Wolfhound WLF-2 35t, 97kph, 9.0t and 42 crit slots
100% std armor and std structure
10DHS
Adding FF and Endo would change the numbers to: 11tons and 14 crit slots with full armor
Changing only to Endo, but using a XL 210 instead of std engine would change the numbers to:
15tons and 22 crit slots with full armor

Crab CRM-27B 50t, 81kph, 11.5t and 16 crit slots (11tons with full armor)
95% ff armor and std structure
16DHS
Using the XL250 engine on the -27SL variant would change the numbers to:
17.5t and 10 crit slots (17tons with full armor)
switching FF for endo would change the numbers to: 18tons with full armor

Black Knight BL-6B-KNT 75tons, 64kph, 27t and 21 crit slots (25.5tons with full armor)
90% std armor and endo
16DHS
using an XL300 instead of the std engine would change the numbers to: 35tons and 15 crit slots with full armor

Mauler MAL-1R (XL270) 90t, 48kph, 54t and 24 crit slots (49.5tons with full armor)
73% ff armor and std structure
11DHS
Using a STD 270 would change the numbers to: 47t and 30 crit slots free (42.5tons with full armor)
switching FF for Endo would change the numbers to: 45.5tons with full armor

Possible Mauler variants (depending on armor level)
STD 270, 73% std armor, endo, 10DHS
2x LLaser, 4x AC5

STD 270, 91% std armor, endo, 11DHS
2x Gauss, 2x (ER)PPC, 4t ammo

STD 270, 97% std armor, endo, 14DHS
2x Gauss, 2x (ER)LLaser, 4t ammo

STD 270, 97% std armor, endo, 12DHS
2x ERLL, 4x LRM15, 8t ammo

STD 270, 91% std armor, endo, 10DHS

The Mauler will be great in a utility IS assault mech. It should be able to do Brawler, Snipe, LRM Support, Dakka Support, and even dual roles like Snipe/LRM with 2 ERPPCs and 2 LRM 20s ... and so on.

Try 4UAC, the Mauler version of the Dire Wolf, 3 Maulers can do it.
I would choose the MAL-1P, drop the 2 LLs to 4 MLs for the needed 4 tons.
UAC Maulers vs UAC Dires.

Bit disappointed with the usefulness of the new mech packs so a bit reluctant to go for this one. I have basic adders, novas, panthers, grasshoppers etc etc. Only mechs mastered in the last resistance are the Zeus...

I have 40mil in the bank, can probably afford to grind and buy for these...

Same rational led me to get the wave 3 heavy pack rather than the full set. Just did not see the Executioner as cutting it..

Might be tempted to just go a-la-carte for a change so I can get the Mauler..

It's interesting... The Wolfhound is just like the Shadowcat, it's been so badly misrepresented in every game it's been in, that when we get something close to lore, it looks weird... :P
