Great initial artwork to lure you in, then BAM - ugliest mother banging medium and heavy mechs ever.
Then to top it off, ugliest paintjob that looks like someone had to whip it up 5 minutes before deadline.
After I got over the ugliness, I get into the effing mechs and you find a mixed bag:
- Panther is ok, sometimes fun to play, matches up well with TRO
- Enforcer is ok, sometimes fun to play; feels like one of few mediums that are scaled like a medium. Damn that UGLY mother banging head!! A huge departure from the artwork for Resistance mech pack
- Grashopper - wtf! words cannot explain how god awful this chassis is. Makes me want to punch someone.
- Zeus is ok, great design that matches up well with TRO
I both agree, and disagree with you at the same time. The Enforcer artwork was where 90% of my interest in Resistance lied. I found the Panther and Grasshopper artworks to be OK, but nothing special. Zeus artwork looked cool, but still not cool enough to really grab me by the *******. That ENFORCER, though... omg. So damn nice.
Then the actual game models came out... dear GOD, it's so bad. So so bad. On the other hand, the Panther's in-game model looks great, and the Grasshopper looks very good too IMO, it just needs less prominent shoulders. I don't find the height to be much of an issue at all, plus it was always supposed to be a tall 'Mech.
And both the Panther and the Grasshopper play amazingly as well. I have no idea why you think the Grasshopper sucks, I find it to be one of the best heavies in the IS' stable. I didn't get the Zeus, but consensus seems to be that it's the strongest performer of the four, and lookswise its in-game model is fine(although not as good as the Panther's or Grasshopper's).
So the best-looking 'Mech in the art, became BY FAR the worst-looking 'Mech in the actual game. Not only is the Enforcer the ugliest of the four 'Mechs in Resistance, it's one of the ugliest and most uninspired of ALL the game's 'Mech models. Had I not fallen in such deep love with the Grasshopper for both its looks and its performance, I would have gotten a refund on the entire pack. It's really, really bad.
Anyway... so the best became the worst, the second best (Zeus) became average, and the two least interesting became the best-looking. Weird how that worked out. As a result, I'm now left to wonder if the Black Knight and Crab will end up looking like blocky Derp-A-Trons once they're in the game, while the Mauler ends up looking like a sleek and sexy warbeast(I don't find its artwork very attractive at all).

Thank you. Guys, look it up, and please don't ask for 3070 technology any more! Next thing you know people are going to ask for Jihad variants (well, it's already happened, but that's okay not everyone has this stuff memorized).

If you turned the thing in and haven't gotten your pack you need to send an email to billing@mwomercs.com, considering this involves a package purchase and redemption.

Although I agree seems that they want to avoid energy heavy loadouts "laser vomit" (to the point of nerfing clan mechs, (and yea i realize a nerf was needed on TW and SC but the duration is rediculous on LL now)) and then they release all energy dependant mechs (except the Mauler) for the IS. Not sure how more energy boats are going to increase "variety" or whatever you want to call it but at the same time I admit i got the black knight pack. (just dont need and am not going to use another assault mech).
So at the end of the day more of the same. Meh.

You even get more colors!
It comes to my mind that PGI is losing the focus to the Game and go more and more to money making and also take sides with IS only.
I have a more and more negative impression of PGI.
because I.S mechs come with mostly std engine, internals and single heat sinks, thats why cheaper

The Black Knight concept art looks great, but we will have to wait and see how the actual model compares. I crusaded for the Black Knight to be in Resistance 1 instead of the Grasshopper, but now the Grasshopper is one of my favorite mechs and I think that the Black Knight will just be a Grasshopper without Jump Jets, unless it gets some really great quirks. Also, I would have loved it if PGI had added the "clanbuster" variant with the sword, even if the sword was just for decoration.

Question: If I do decide to only get the mauler via the "cart purchase" section for 35$, will I just get the special variant that gives the 30% cbill increase? I really want a mauler with the cbill increase.

If it works the same as Clan Wave 3 you will only receive the 4th variant for the packages you bought during the Early Adopter period. So using your example: if you bought the Wolfhound during the EA period and then later upgraded to the Mauler you would still only get the 4th Wolfhound.

Thanks for your answer Do you have any place to confirm this? I'm getting conflicting reports :/ Some people say that when I buy only the mauler from the cart section I get 2 variants and the prime variant, but not the 30% cbill bonus special variant.
EDIT: I've read through the FAQ and saw that the A la carte purchases do not include early adopter awards, but there was no mention of which variants A la carte purchases includes. I'm really interested to know as I want a Mauler with the Cbill bonus.
