Dead on arrival.

Nice hardpoints.

Any arguments backing up the flame?
Or just random neural vomit coming out of that gray mass of yours?

grasshopper was DOA too and it actually is a fine usable mech everywhere.

why are there threads about every new IS mech about them beeing DOA? the complete resistance pack 2 is completely fine and usable in CW as well .

stop crying in advance >_> its annoying and flooding the forum with useless *EHRMAGERD MECH IS DOA BEFORE ITS EVEN IN THE GAME* threadnaughts -.-

It's not like we have any good options right now for a 75 ton mech. (Does anyone even use the orion?)

Penetrator appears one year after Tukayyid in 3053. Lasers, but with a missile variant and all have JJs

Dragoon is a Amaris-era mech. While "extinct" it would be superior to the Black Knight in all ways.

I can understand that PGI would like to meet fan boy expectations. As such, I can appreciate the Black Knight. But based on the dynamics of the game, with the Grasshopper and the Awesome being Energy Vomit mechs, and putting it in a package with laser only mechs in the other categories. This is not a package I can support.

Shall wait till the Mauler comes out for CBills

No, the hopper is fun, but it sucks. It's a one trick pony. Massive burst damage alpha followed by a long cooldown. It's a stealthy assassin mech with the tallest profile in the game. AKA it sucks

thats exactly what makes it a good CW mech at all. you can burst intense amounts of damage then hide back in the team to cool off. you can play it very well in combination of tbolts and jaegers or inside assault lances.

3 LPLs and 6 MLs is nothing to scoff at.

Neither is 9 MPLs.

BUT I SWEAR IF THEY GIVE THIS COOLDOWN QUIRKS INSTEAD OF RANGE QUIRKS I will be LIVID.

Seriously... Cool down quirks are almost useless for an energy boat. Range and heat generation please.

Meh, 3 tons. (There is nothing we can do about them not being JUMP jets, until PGI figures out that it is possible to do real Jumpjets without being OP)

Besides, they are useful for mobility. And, Hover jets can make them should height full alpha work.. :D

Dat Shoulder height alpha.

It's not like this is going to limit it any, considering it's hard point availability.

Well, I'll refrain from passing final judgement until I see the quirks, but it's not looking good so far. No jump jets and no high hard point placement does not bode well for this mech. Adding a second bad option for 75 ton mechs on the IS side is not exactly improvement over having one bad option...

I think declaring a 'mech is dead before it's even playable is more indicative of big problems with the current state of the game than anything else.

They should quirk based on hard point placement. Because high mounted weapons are just superior. Especially if they're on the shoulder and don't have a huge protrusion to make them a bigger target. Even then we're getting pretty redundant given the Grasshopper boats mainly energy.

Actually if anything. Since we have more of the same already. It's not going to be DOA. It's just going to perform about as bad or good as existing mech with similar load outs.

I mean.. people said the 'hopper was going to be DoA and its probably one of the best IS heavies now.. behind maybe the TDR-5SS. I even thought it was going to be meh after seeing the quirks, but I love the 5H now.

If the BK gets useful quirks (probably between the 5SS and what the hopper got because it has no JJs) it will be far from DoA.

It would be nice if the black knight had some ballistic hardpoints on the arms. The design still looks cool, and the amount of weapons it can carry also look good. Looking forward to facing this mech.

I wanted a bigger shield, the kind of shield that eclipsed the torso when you turned it square into on coming fire.

If you expanded the base of the shield a touch and began allowing for asymmetrical armor load outs so that we could put CT levels of armor on that arm we'd be in business.

It doesn't look all that much different from:

Funny I found that to be an insult to the Black Knight from TT.
