Canadian Military in CFB Gagetown, NewBrunswick. I was an armored trooper for almost 10 years (tanks and recce/recon), but changed trades to Materials Technician. Welding/fabricating/metal work, autobody, textiles, basic carpentry, machining, and minor lifesaving devices (gasmasks, floatation devices, firepacks etc); and have been doing that for 10 years now. Most of my friends list is also current or retired CDN military and will make the core of our merc unit

Cheers to all of our current or retired service personnel!!
I'm over in the Arty School. You realize of course that to the rest of us in the Cdn Army, Mat Techs are like Unicorns or UFOs... You hear about them but you never actually see one yourself. Imagine finding one on here!
Seriously though, I've been thinking about trying to find one for a custom part I'd like to have made for my Queen Mary. PM me if yer interested in discussing it. At first I'm just looking to find out the basics of how we would go about it. (For example, it's basically a small metal plate, so... who pays for the metal? Questions like that.)
cheers,
Zan
