Canadian Military in CFB Gagetown, NewBrunswick. I was an armored trooper for almost 10 years (tanks and recce/recon), but changed trades to Materials Technician. Welding/fabricating/metal work, autobody, textiles, basic carpentry, machining, and minor lifesaving devices (gasmasks, floatation devices, firepacks etc); and have been doing that for 10 years now. Most of my friends list is also current or retired CDN military and will make the core of our merc unit ;) Cheers to all of our current or retired service personnel!!

I'm over in the Arty School. You realize of course that to the rest of us in the Cdn Army, Mat Techs are like Unicorns or UFOs... You hear about them but you never actually see one yourself. Imagine finding one on here!

:D

Seriously though, I've been thinking about trying to find one for a custom part I'd like to have made for my Queen Mary. PM me if yer interested in discussing it. At first I'm just looking to find out the basics of how we would go about it. (For example, it's basically a small metal plate, so... who pays for the metal? Questions like that.)

cheers,
Zan

HVAC guy here... Been sweating my brains out lately.

One thing that bugs the hell outta' me, though. None of the guys in the MechWarrior videos, be it the in game cinematics or the actual Battletech themed cartoons or fan produced videos ever appear to be sweating enough. I mean, all of the fluff canon just talks about how hot it gets in a mech cockpit, how the warriors are pouring sweat, but at worst the guys in the videos look like they took a short jog around the block. I mean, do those cooling vests soak up moisture as well as heat? Gimme' a break!

In my line of work, I really feel I am in a unique position to understand the heat of a mech cockpit and those guys lack of sweat just tells me they aren't doing their job.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Digital Entertainment (game design) but I'm currently unemployed. Been working on some Indie games and some freelance graphic design while I've been looking for another job in the gaming industry.

And now for some shameless promotion: Check out Zombie Bait for the iPad, just released. iPhone version coming soon.

A whole lot of stuff about the Canadian army
</p>I'm also in the big green machine, but I try to be as little as possible now a days.  Ahh the life of a reservist.  I cant say I miss the reg force in the slightest bit!  Infantry sure is fun, until you are actually doing it.I've now moved onto becoming a geologist, which is way better then the infantry.
