Hmm... Wonder if the IIC pack will be named something different to the wave packs, like 'Second Line Advance' or something along those lines :3

Solahma Dregs
Scraping the Barrel Bottom
Dezgra Scum
Stravag Dogs
It will be real interesting seeing Clans deploy a lot of Jenner IICs with their OmniMechs.

I think Russ said he does not "feel the pressure" of making IS OmniMechs.. Though i would like to see them.

There would be no advantage for using IS omnis in MWO, other than mixing and matching hardpoints. Since the timeline has not advanced to the point where IS has pretty much reverse-engineered Clan tech the original IS Omnis (Blackjack and Orion) would still have the heavier IS "lostech" and would be stuck with hard-mounted Engines, HS and other items like the Clan mechs. I would rather see IS ER lasers with larger streak launchers and Larger LBxs, so we could get mechs like the Caesar or Bushwhacker.

I think the CW maps are terrible.

Where to start?

1. Most of the maps are not used at all. Think of how rarely anything happens from attacker spawn to to the gates.
2. ****** drop points making spawn camping the play of the day. Somehow pushing into the same grid point and spawncamping my way to victory is not quite the engaging game mode I had been hoping for. It would be nice if the defenders emerged from hangars to prevent this.
3. 12-man deathballs still rule the day. Once gain a complete failure to incorporate any kind of reason to split up at all.
4. OOB areas need work. Grim Portico, are you ******* kidding me? How about the approach to the E7 ramp on Boreal? If you back up a little bit there you can actually go OOB and die even though a massive wall is behind you.
5. I feel that most of them are still too small. I remember the initial hype that CW maps were going to be even larger than Alpine and Terra Therma............NOPE.

I think so many of these issues would be reduced in some capacity if they allowed the community to make maps and then have the highest community voted maps be picked by the devs. Much less work on their part and the community gets to feel like they're contributing to the future of the game.

Those five are the earliest IS Omnis that I can rememb er ( someone please correct me )

Of that lot, I'd pilot a 50 ton Blackjack, the Perseus ( Omni Orion ) and the Avatar are slow for heavies in MWO, the Owens lacks the possibility of FF/ES and so does the Sunder even though it has alot of pod space( and happens to pack a fragile XL engine on an assault frame ) Most have DHS though which is nice. (but not the Owens)

Would probably still be better off than Clan Wave II (Hellbringer and Mad Dog excepted )

Is there really only one 100 ton omni assault? oh and you forgot the second line mechs. Like the IIC's and the Kodiak, I really want a Kodiak

I believe there is at least one other, but it is farther in the future. Remember in Lore and TT the Dire Wolf was the "ultimate assault mech" during the time of the invasion. There literally was nothing that could face the Dire Wolf one-on-one and win. The only Reason the Dire Wolf seems weak in MWO, is because it is huge and slow and many of the Clan weapons are nerfed pretty badly compared to the TT variants. Not to mention, there are no knockdowns in the game, so light mechs can stand between a Dire Wolf's legs and the Dire Wolf can do nothing about it.

Bet they are. IIC Mechs were out long before IS Omnis.

While you are correct that IIC mechs were developed centuries before Operation Revival, they only made their debut in the Inner Sphere in 3050, along with Omnis. Furthermore, they were normally delegated to garrison duty on conquered worlds, and were more uncommon on the front lines. Thus, from the IS point of view, Clan Omnis debuted before IIC mechs.

Now, the reason I bring up IS Omnis doesn't really have to do much with the lore and more with PGI. In the game up until now, Omnitech has been Clan exclusive and regular battlemechs IS exclusive. This highlights the difference in combat philosophy and technological innovation between the two superfactions. Now that PGI is going to offer battlemechs to the Clan players, from a game balance perspective it makes sense to say that the IS Omnis may not be too far off. By not too far off, I mean about a year, of course.

The first Clan mechs came out last summer after being announced the winter before, while the first Resistance pack came out the winter after Clan mechs were released, in February/March. Taking this into consideration, while also considering that PGI has been racking up content releases more frequently this year, suggests that we could possibly see IS Omnimechs next summer. If this is the case, I imagine we won't hear anything about it until December/January. (Of course, there's still got to be one more Resistance pack release before then too.)

Possible IS Omnis:

Lights: Raptor, Owens, Arctic Fox

Mediums: Men Shen, Strider, Blackjack (Omni), Firestarter (Omni)

Heavy: Avatar (Omni), Black Hawk - KU, Perseus

Assault: Hauptmann, Sunder, Templar

As you see, there are enough possibilities here to release a trilogy of IS Omnimechs, so I'm sure PGI is already eyeing them up.

Then of course there is the Celestial Project, which could catapult us into the Jihad era. That's pretty far off, but it would be a six-pack of Word of Blake Omnimechs.

To counterbalance the new trilogy of IIC mechs (and probable trilogy of IS Omnis), I'm sure there will be many more releases of Clan Omnis (after all, there were more than three waves in Op Revival). This would allow each superfaction to keep their battle philosophies more or less intact (greater customization VS streamlined + modular hardpoints), even though they are losing exclusivity.

EDIT:

Personally, I can't wait until they release the Warhammer & Warhammer IIC. 3rd Resistance wave is still unannounced. Yes, the Warhammer is 'unseen' but they could easily recreate its image while still retaining the awesomeness that is the Warhammer.

I am SO getting this first IIC pack. Three of the four mechs I know for sure were in the Clan Snow Raven touman. :P

IS OmniMech pack choices.

Option 1
Light - Raptor (25 tons, 3052), Owens (35 tons, 3056)
Medium - Firestarter (45 tons, 3056), Strider (40 tons, 3057)
Heavy - Black Hawk-KU (60 tons, 3055), Avatar (70 tons, 3056)
Assault - Sunder (90 tons, 3056)

Option 2
You get access to Clan Omnis but due to MWO balance, restricted to IS weapons & equipment.

I think some choices of Repasy are too far down the timeline.
I also know people are talking about ignoring lore yet by lore, IS got access to the current Clan Omnis we have through salvage. Would be much easier to just take 4 of the existing Clan Omnis and give access using Option 2, restricted to IS equipment for balance.

I am surprised no one mentions that but we have all these people who say, "Hell with lore."
Can't go too far from lore without wondering why they made a game based on a brand.
Sometimes lore works in your favor too.

Option 2 is much easier on PGI and we already have a good idea about how they would work plus does not really violate the brand.

Salvage would be my choice too. But first, they must take back in R&R, need to salvage equipment in order to keep your Clan 'Mechs running, etc. And if you mount IS aka not modular weapons, they lose their omnipod switching capability.

At these conditions, i would like to see salvage.

What worries me more, ironically, is Clan units stomping around with uber-quirked Dragons and Stalkers, if salvage works both ways..

Well, if it was up to me, separated Battlemech and Omnimech supply lines would come into play here..

I would rather not. OmniMechs are supposed to be the best Clan 'Mech technology can offer, and IICs are threatening already to make some of them obsolete for many people..

Btw, would you imagine how much HOT a Stalker would be, without quirks (maybe negative ones), with 6 CERLLs? :o :P

I do not know about "best" but they were supposed to be the most adaptable.

The buzz about these IIC 'mechs is mostly unfounded anyway. I do no think the Orion or Highlander will compete well for usage with anything we have now and the Hunchback IIC will probably end up being the #2 Medium.

I have said this many times--other games do this to great success. They should even give rewards in the form of MC/mechs/whatever to the winners.

From what i know, OmniMechs had given the Clans that first used them a noticeable advantage over the Clans that were not equipped with them yet. Plus, all the Clans use OmniMechs only in their front-line Galaxies, and i cannot blame them, considering the logistical advantages they are supposed to have over BattleMechs. Besides, most warriors scorn assignment to second-line units (and 'Mechs).

I would like to see IS Omnimechs but I would really like to see new IS mechs instead. A huge advantage of having omnitech is a logistical one, an issue not in this game. I would rather see this.

Exactly. There are no problems with acquiring weapons, mech, or pilots that have been destroyed/killed. Although there is "battle fatigue" and I use that term loosely. You don't need to wonder where how the hell you are going to replace those 48 mechs and pilots that you lost last round. Battlefield transport is not an issue since the DS cannot be destroyed and there is no aerospace / jumpship element. Clanners, you'll love this, how would you replace all of those expensive shiny omnimechs and trained from birth pilots? $$$$ or whatever you use for currency, Clanners do not waste.
Ignoring infantry, civil unrest, jumpships, warships, logistics of any kind, armor (tank), aerospace, battle armor, and ORBITAL GUNS USED FOR ******* DECORATION, it is pretty good. I still play this game because I have faith in PGI and their staff that they will continue to make corrections. The August patch is supposed to be a big one but but as CyclonerM stated above, it needs an overhaul or two.

**I realized this right after I posted it. "Where are you Clans gonna get those shiny new omnimechs etc etc," pay no attention to the original post that has nearly all Clan second-line and IIC mechs....

Not all of our OmniMechs are expensive or new (like a fair share of our good old Summoners :P ) but were i in you, i would worry about how to replace your pluricenturies-old BattleMechs now that a lot of your factories have never been rebuilt after the Succession Wars ;)

Well, you know what? There is a reason even Clan units often prefer to retreat instead of fighting to the last man and machine.. Just wished we had a "surrender" option or, better, the possibility of trying to retreat off-map once a team gets under a % of combat efficiency.

The Firemoth is too fast. The servers can't handle this.

The Crossbow is undergunned. Unless we switch to a BV-based system, the Crossbow is useless.

The development of Arrow IV wouldn't just mean the arrival of the Naga. It would mean putting artillery directly into the hands of players and this would be a huge step. (TAG and Narc would move from dangerous to lethal.) The Naga won't come for a long time.

On the plus-side:
Viper, Black Lanner, Night Gyr and Turkina are MONSTERS.
