I do not understand the hatred for WoT comparisons. There are similarities in how WoT and MWO are presented. Or at least that appears to be the case. Both are obviously F2P with premium elements. Both will encourage clan/unit based warfare. Both are instance based and will be on a timer. The biggest differences are the mechanics of how the different war machines operate.

Now before the flaming begins, yes i have played WoT, and i have a thorough background in the MW & BT universe.

I'm thinking about cooling off on forum posters asking the same banal questions, due to many refugees coming over here to MWO in the anticipation of this game. I played WOT, and I know their plight, but people need to do forum searches. Anyways welcome to MWO, and see you on the field soon!

thats tech lvl not mech lvl ( i was refering to a post i had read earlyer where a person was considering a jenner a lvl 1 mech and an atlas a lvl 10 mech.

To explain...the tech level is for the RPG-game and tells you how easy you will get the device that you want. Not only for mechs. You can use this for tooth brushes, clothes. or toilets...whatever you like. Just to mention Battletech is not only all thats scary old mechwarrior games, there is a lot more around it. There is a lot of "history" behind and in front what is much more interesting.

My understand of WoT (i never played it and i dont want to play it either) is, that you have a bunch of different tanks from different time periods fight against each other. I am right? BT is much more than this. BT has a storyline behind it. And they have more then 20 years of history in TT and RPG. I guess thats not what WoT has.

I'm spreading the word about MWO in the WOT and WOWP forums. I think we are getting quite a few refugees from WOT. I guess thats why so many forum posters are comparing this game to WOT, hence forth I will try to be nicer to them......maybe.

The comparisons i think are more related to game play. The histories are obviously different. The instance based gaming and matchmaking will be very similar to WoT i do believe. It will be the vast difference in weaponry and the variance in mechs that set MWO apart.

Nikol I can't speak for everybody else but I want to clear up the misunderstanding between us. You referrerd to the hatred(#42) for WOT right, so I posted my responses to your first post? I went further to state I was going to cool off on people posting questions, comparisons about WOT.

You are right, but devs molested tank history there as they see fit. Imagine if here devs took MW history and done the same. Lot's of rage would be guaranteed...

It seems the PGI is paying attention to the Battletech timeline. Only time will tell if they hold to strict canonical events or allow us the players and our player run units to step off the timeline and create our own history moving forward.

i have to appologize to yall. i came off hostile and that was not my goal. when i was writing this i was more feeling frustrated but not mad. id dont mind the WOT comparasons at all or the eve ones i was just throwing out random games that came to mind ,so if any one felt that i was targeting them im sorry. what i was attacking was the whole mentailty of WOT played like this so MWO is gonna play like WOT. that being said WOT did have some great ideas and some bad ones too. and we should for sure learn from there mistakes

Sadly you misinterpreted my post. It was not aimed at WoT players own hatred at WoT, but the MWO community that hates even the mention of it and any of the many comparisons between the two. It is obvious from what we have both seen and been told that WoT was/is an influence in the design of this game. The Battletech history also obviously plays a huge role.

they are fed up with second rate games. ... But since they have nothing to compare it to, they repeatedly fall back to those very same 2nd rate games .

You must unlearn what you have learned, young n00bi. There is no new suggestion or opinion here. Though the game is new, the community is not. The high horse most WoTankers ride in here on still reeks of placenta. The devs have been mentally simulating their perfect game in their heads for generations. Now, they are making it real. Not EA, not Activision, not Micro$hit, but PGI an indy group of fans. This is not a money grab for them, but a labor of love. They have sought out this intellectual property and tracked its status and availability for years. Finally, the stars aligned and the time was right. Now, divest yourself of worries and fears so that you might be filled with wonder and joy when the time comes. Right now, there is very little dev interaction on the forums. They are busy. While many newcomers feel they are adding new ideas and imperative opinions, they are merely adding content to the vast desert wastelands of the old. Read more on the forums, and you'll see what I mean.

I understand your frustration, and i am not really attacking you or your opinion. I am just countering it. I have gotten some hostile feedback at even the mention of the comparisons.

According to battletech the timeline goes as far as 3550. You got me curious Nikol, so I did a google search and look what else I found, from ourbattletech.com. Your thoughts?

I can't help but point out the similarities between this statement and arguments used in religion. Let me illustrate (and fix the gratuitous amount of spelling/grammar errors).

GOD IS NOT STUPID. I'll say this one more time for the reading impaired. GOD IS NOT STUPID. All it takes is half a brain to just spend about 30 minutes here on the site to figure out that God LOVES this world and the universe that it comes from. He is not gonna mess up this world by making some silly mistake that every one seems to be worried about. (wanna know how i know this? ) because I read the BIBLE and 99.9% of any thing that could get messed up as been discussed to hell and back in this book and pretty much every one knows how every one feels about what ever subject.

Now, on a more serious note: All this MW:O vs WoT nonsense is just childish. As are these BT hipster threads.
