Perhaps not, but it's ironic regardless and definitely decreases the argument's credence.

As I recall she died in a last stand to protect her troops. I'd say it was a valiant act despite the timing which was tragic in nature for it being right before the reinforcements arrived.

Girls don't play with GI Joes.
Girls don't play MWO tabletop.
ergo
MWO lore isn't going to market to female players because they aren't the target market.
lrn2marketing. It's like saying men are under-represented in makeup commercials. totally different market.
Could've worded it less like a ****, but I can't say I disagree.
Edit: They changed Richard Cameron to stars? Shame.
That is, however, not a reason we can't at least try to expand the demographic.

Expanding demographics is good. However, marketing patterns are better.
If your main consumer for X product is A demographic, why waste all the money in research, development, marketing, etc to reach a demographic that's unlikely to be a regular consumer for your product?
Sure, it's okay for consumers outside the given target demographic to buy. But to market specifically to a minority demographic is stupid.
For instance, I watch My Little Pony. It's target demographic is for little girls between 3 and 9. I have no expectations for Hasbro to market it to me. If Hasbro did indeed market it to my demographic (males aged 21-26) I'd call them an idiot for it because I'm a minority demographic.

-there ARE many important females in BT already - some fighters, some political.
-if michael stackpole does not write female as lead character (kept repeating this), is because he is male, knows writing males, and even because he chooses to do so. it's his writing, it's his book. if you don't like it, write your own darn book.
-battletech has been geared towards an audience that was 90+% male in the 80s and 90s. and that's the time the books were written - the writers who were interested in writing for it were also male. should they have hired a female to write for something she didn't care about for "equal opportunity"? that's ludicrous.
-even female writers like J.K.Rowling write their leads as male sometimes (harry potter) why? to have more mass appeal. females will identify with male characters, but not viceversa. that's just the way it is, nature/nurture.. this hasn't been the subject of much research.
also mentions how females are treated poorly in conventions full of nerds who haven't taken a shower in years. conventions even well adjusted males would think twice about going to - and they are amazed when geeks look at them with drool in their mouth because all their life their hobbies have garnered this type of reaction from females:

http://cdn2.gurl.com...sgustedgirl.jpg
and belittled for it.
and all of a sudden, OVERNIGHT, these same girls show up in princess leia cosplay as the ultimate fandom- and the geeks are expected to immediately know how to talk to women. excepting some legitimate misoginists like frank miller / michael bay. most of them just are awkward and can't help it

I'm glad I got to see a SJW getting banned from something (albeit for reasons other than this thread), makes a nice change from being villified for being a gamer.
best thing ive seen all day.

The thread was fine. The accusations and off-topic posts in this thread on the last pages are the things that need to die. These posts are the reasons that this thread is going downhill and everyone who posted in such a fashion (which sadly now includes me) should be ashamed over his behavior. There might be a cheater in this thread but the ones derailing this thread because of it are not better in any way.

Callling the thread out for what it is (a sham) isn't something to be sad about. What's sad is that there are people determined to perpetuate the sham's legacy.
So, go start a new thread on the same topic. It will be more sincere and won't have any fakes of the OP's caliber in it. This one should be closed.
Edit: If it's not closed, then you know that detractors will continue to derail it. Face it, it's K-Town or death for this thread now; there are no other options. Funny thing is, it's really the OP's fault.

I mean, how do those things even stay on??? Anyone?
When I saw this thread a couple of weeks ago, I lolled and moved on.
But since now the server has unplayable ping and lag, and this OP is in the list, I have the time to write something.
Wanna know why I chose Stefka Kerensky?
Natasha is the coolest character in BT world, imo. So, I chose this nick to be a trothkin of her, many years ago, while playing MW roleplay.
Look at this face:
Does she seem a sexsymbol, dbag cheater?
After her lover death, "Natasha Kerensky over the edge and turned the already formidable MechWarrior to a cocky, sometimes almost suicidal lifestyle on and off the battlefield for decades to come. Like her entire Black Widow command of criminals and discipline cases she displayed borderline psychotic behavior and could kill at a whim, inside or outside her Warhammer. Violent barfights that could even result in deaths occurred regularly".
She was seeking to die, losing, in this way, any fear of death.
Natasha is the coolest character.
So, what I think, is that you are a know nothing cheater.
Gladly you are not here anymore.
Period.
